Abstract

 プラズマディスプレイパネルの1画面を表示するための1フィールドは、リセット期間(RSTa、RSTb)及びアドレス期間(ADR)を有する複数のサブフィールド(SF1~SF10)で構成される。前記複数のサブフィールドの少なくとも1つは、サステイン放電の回数が0回に設定され、かつ、前記アドレス期間(ADR)中の走査電極(YE)及び維持電極(XE)間の電圧が、前記走査電極(YE)及び前記維持電極(XE)間の放電開始電圧(Vf1)より小さく設定された低輝度用サブフィールド(SF1)である。そして、前記低輝度用サブフィールド(SF1)の次のサブフィールド(SF2)のリセット期間(RSTb)に、前記走査電極(YE)及び前記維持電極(XE)間に、前記走査電極(YE)及び前記維持電極(XE)間の放電開始電圧(Vf2)より小さい電圧が印加される。この結果、低輝度の画像を表示する際の画像の品位を向上できる。
