Abstract

La présente invention concerne un verre optique qui comprend de 15 à 30 % de B2O3, de 2 à 8 % de SiO2, de 15 à 30 % de La2O3, de 15 à 30 % de Gd2O3, de 20 à 30 % de ZnO, de 0,1 à 2 % de Li2O, de 0,1 à 6 % de ZrO2 et de 0,1 à 6 % de Ta2O5 comme composants essentiels, et qui comprend de plus éventuellement de 0 à 6 % de WO3, toutes les teneurs en composants étant exprimées en termes de teneurs d'oxydes en poids. Le verre optique présente une teneur totale en Ta2O5, ZrO2 et WO3 de 0,2 à 9 %, un indice de réfraction (nd) de 1,77 à 1,78, un nombre d'Abbe (νd) de 46 à 48, et une température de transition vitreuse (Tg) de 600˚C ou moins. Le verre optique présente des propriétés optiques de réfractivité élevée et de faible dispersion, présente une faible température de moulage, est moins susceptible de se dévitrifier, et présente une excellente résistance au moulage.
