Abstract

In a pretreatment step before enzymatic hydrolysis, an alkali treatment with an aqueous hydroxide solution is conducted, the solution containing one hydroxide selected among sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide in a concentration of 0.2-1 wt.%, excluding 1 wt.%.
