Abstract

　高圧放電ランプにおいて、封止部の破損を抑制し長寿命化を図るに当たり、特に累積点灯時間の初期段階において封止部の破損を確実に抑制することができ、しかも電極等の各部材の組み立てが容易であり、また金属箔の変形や箔切れ等の不良の発生を抑えることを可能とする。 発光管は、ガラス製の容器を有し、その内部に配置された電極を備えている。発光管は内部に封入物が封入され、かつ放電空間が形成されている発光部と、この発光部に連設された封止部とを有している。電極は、その一端部が放電空間に位置し、かつ他端部が封止部に封着された金属箔（７）に接合された電極棒（５ａ）を有している。電極棒のうち、封止部に埋め込まれた部分の少なくとも一部には、切欠部を有するスリーブ状の被覆箔（１２）が、切欠部が金属箔と電極棒との接合部分に位置するように嵌め込まれている。
