Abstract
It is to raise reliability and manufacture efficiency of double seal structure of a short arc discharge lamp, and also to shorten the lighting rise time. The mount component 19 is constituted assembling an electrode (an anode 2 or a cathode 3), an electrode support stick 4, a tapered inside glass tube 36 with thinner part at the electric discharge space side, an internal metal ring 14, a lead stick 5, an external metal ring 25, plural metallic foils 8, an external glass tube 15, and a glass stick 18. The internal end 16 of the internal seal tube 12 at the discharge space side is connected to the thicker end surface 39 of the tapered inside glass tube 36 and sealed. Since the diameter at the discharge space side of the tapered inside glass tube 36 is made small, the time to stable lighting becomes short. Stress concentration to the tapered inside glass tube 36 can be made small, and the reliability over a burst can be raised.
