Abstract

内部に水銀が封入され、かつ一対の電極が互いに対向するように配置された発光部（２）と、この発光部に連接された封止部（３）とを有する石英ガラス製の発光管（１）を備えたショートアーク型高圧放電ランプ。一対の電極は電極棒（５ａ）を有し、電極棒の一端部が発光部の内部空間に位置し、電極棒の他端部が封止部に埋め込まれるとともに、封止部に封着された導電用金属箔（７）に接合されており、電極棒のうち、封止部に埋め込まれた部分の少なくとも一部において、その外周面全体がスリーブ状金属箔（７ａ）によって密に覆われている。ランプ寿命時間に亘って超高圧の管内蒸気圧による発光管の封止部破損を確実に抑制し、発光管内の蒸気圧を３０ＭＰａ以上まで上昇させた高効率で高品質のランプが得られる。
