Abstract

 光ディスクの記録容量を大きくすると、従来の光ディスクのアドレス情報を示すビット数では、アドレス増加分を表現できなくなってしまう。同じビット数で従来とのアドレスフォーマットの互換を保ちながらアドレス増加分を表現できるアドレスフォーマットを提案する。  本発明による光ディスクは、データが記録されるトラックが複数のブロックに分割され、各ブロックがL個のサブブロックから構成されている。各サブブロックには、各サブブロックによって構成されるブロックのブロックアドレスを特定するMビットの第1のデジタル情報と、L以上の数値を表現可能なNビットの第2のデジタル情報とが記録されている。ブロックアドレスの値が閾値未満の場合には、第2のデジタル情報は、各サブブロックに予め割り振られた番号を特定する値を示しており、ブロックアドレスの値が閾値以上の場合には、第2のデジタル情報は、各サブブロックに予め割り振られた番号を特定する値以外の値を示している。あるいは、ブロックアドレスの値が閾値以上の場合には、第2のデジタル情報は、各サブブロックに予め割り振られた番号を特定する値を示しており、ブロックアドレスの値が閾値未満の場合には、第2のデジタル情報は、各サブブロックに予め割り振られた番号を特定する値以外の値を示している。
