Abstract

 コレステリック液晶表示素子10と、駆動回路29,29と、制御回路27と、を備える表示装置であって、書換え対象の画素に初期化パルスを印加して初期階調状態にした後、階調パルスを印加して中間調状態にし、階調パルスの印加される累積時間が、階調レベルに関係する表示装置において、表示装置の温度を検出する温度センサ30を備え、制御回路は、初期化パルスのパルス電圧を固定とし、温度センサの検出した温度に応じて、初期化パルスのパルス幅を変化させ、温度センサの検出した温度が低温の時には階調パルスのパルス幅を変化させ、温度センサの検出した温度が高温の時には階調パルスのパルス電圧を変化させる。
