Abstract

本発明は、触媒を担持させた際にセル壁及び境界壁に無駄に担持される触媒の量を少なくすることができるハニカム構造体を提供することを目的とするものであり、本発明のハニカム構造体は、多数のセルがセル壁を隔てて長手方向に並設され、最外周を外壁によって囲まれた柱状のハニカム焼成体が、接着材層を介して複数個結束されたハニカム構造体であって、上記セル壁の厚さは０．１５～０．３０ｍｍであり、上記接着材層と上記接着材層の両側に位置する二つのハニカム焼成体の外壁とからなる境界壁の厚さは、上記セル壁の厚さの５～２０倍であり、上記外壁又は上記外壁と上記接着材層との間には、撥水性物質、陽イオン交換物質及び吸水性物質からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも一種の物質を含む、触媒浸透防止領域を有することを特徴とする。
