Abstract

 本発明は、排ガス浄化用触媒の強度低下を招くことなく、しかも、排ガス浄化用触媒の製造コストを著しく上昇させることもなく、排ガスとの接触面積を増加させて排ガス浄化効率を向上させることが可能な排ガス浄化用触媒の製造方法、及び排ガス浄化用触媒を提供することを目的とする。  本発明は、触媒成分を含有するコーティング層がハニカム担体に形成されてなる排ガス浄化用触媒の製造方法であって、前記触媒成分を含有しチキソトロピー性を有するスラリーに前記ハニカム担体を浸漬し、或いは前記ハニカム担体内に前記スラリーを吸引させてから、当該ハニカム担体を取り出し、取り出されたハニカム担体の端面に対してその軸方向からパルス状のエアを吹き付けた後、このハニカム担体を焼成して、ハニカム担体にコーティング層を形成することを特徴とする。
