Abstract

A scroll type fluid machine (1) includes a back pressure adjusting mechanism (72) for adjusting the pressure of a back pressure chamber (70) depending on the pressure difference between a suction chamber (42) and the back pressure chamber (70). The back pressure adjusting mechanism (72) includes an elastic plate (74), a plate chamber (100) formed in the end plate (40) of a fixed scroll (36) and containing the plate (74), a first communicating hole (88) for communicating the plate chamber (100) and the suction chamber (42), and a second communicating hole (84) provided in the seating face (78a) partitioning the plate chamber (100) and the back pressure chamber (70) and communicating the plate chamber (100) and the back pressure chamber (70). The elastic plate (74) extends along the seating face (78a) and is secured thereto at one end side while generating bending stress, and closes the second communicating hole (84) by pressing a closing surface (92) formed at the other end side against the seating face (78a) with a predetermined elastic force generated by the bending stress.
