  • Another arrangement of the carriage is to have the wheeled unit (that is two vertical wheels attached to a common body, the axis of rotation of the vertical wheels being in the horizontal plane) attached to one arm of a "U" shaped frame and a horizontal wheel with the axis of rotation being in the vertical plane on the other arm of the "U” shaped frame.
  • the spring mechanism to be attached inline with the wheeled unit, the wheeled unit will take the weight of the spring, tube and fabric, while the horizontal wheel will help retain the force of the spring.
  • the horizontal wheel will be slightly smaller than the inside of the "C" shaped track, this will allow only minimal movement of the wheeled unit, when the spring tension is applied to the horizontal wheel.
  • This arrangement of the carriage is more suited to smaller devices, which require a lesser amount of tension on the spring mechanism.
  • a variation of using two sheets of fabric is to use one sheet of fabric and a flat strap (or cord) rolled up together around the keyway tube, to extend the device pull on the strap laterally and the keyway tube will travel laterally unrolling the fabric.
  • Embodiments of the invention may also find practical use as room dividers, advertising screens, balcony screens, over sliding doors, privacy screens, industrial screens and outdoor location such as pergolas, verandah's, caravans and as truck curtains.
  • Fig. 1 is a side view of the self retracting rolling device sitting vertically, especially suitable for use as a balcony and patio screen, according to the present invention, in the rolled up or contracted state against a wall.

  • a spring mechanism 14, inserted into the top end of the vertical keyway tube 12 is fitted with a carriage IS, which supports the vertical keyway tube 12, spring mechanism 14 and fabric 17 and allows the lateral travel of Ae self retracting rolling device 11 in a straight and rigid "C" shaped, horizontal top track 22.
  • the two sheets of fabric 17 are each provided with a bar member 18 at their free ends to assist in pulling the sheets and generally supporting the free ends thereof. Wheels 20 are fitted to the end of bar member 18 and are placed in track 22. A saddle 19 or similar pull facility is also provided in the vicinity of the free end 17 to facilitate grasping and pulling. A strap 40 attached to 19 is illustrated, in this case a central one at the free end of fabric 17. Bar member 18, being fixed and secured close to wall 16 by suitable means (not illustrated).
  • Bar member 18, on the free end is pulled along by strap 40, this free end is pulled in order to assist in it's travel across the track 22, especially where that area is relatively expansive, as this will provide support and ease of use.
  • the self retracting rolling device 11 In order to extend the self retracting rolling device 11, it is only necessary to grasp and pull laterally on the free end of one sheet of fabric 17, whilst the other end of the other sheet of fabric is prevented by any suitable means. As the first sheet is pulled, it causes the keyway tube 12, to roll and unwind the fabric, allowing the keyway tube 12 to move laterally in the direction in which the first sheet is being pulled.
  • the self retracting rolling device 11 is assisted in its travel by rolling on the wheels provided. Due to the geometry of the arrangement, the keyway and spring will travel one half of the distance spanned by the two sheets of fabric, which is the effective distance that the end of the first sheet itself will have traveled.
  • Fig. 2 for use as a screen, blind or temporary wall panel, there is shown a folly extended self retracting rolling device 11, comprising a vertical keyway tube 12.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un store ou une moustiquaire utilisant un dispositif d'enroulement autorétractable (11), qui comprend deux bandes de toile (17) fixées et enroulées conjointement autour d'un tube rainuré vertical (12), un mécanisme à ressort (14) introduit dans l'extrémité supérieure du tube rainuré vertical (12) et un chariot (15) fixé au mécanisme à ressort (14). Le dispositif d'enroulement autorétractable (11) est placé verticalement contre une paroi (16) à laquelle une bande de toile (17) est fixée. Le mécanisme à ressort (14) est précontraint et un moyen de verrouillage maintient la tension. Les galets du chariot (15) sont placés à l'intérieur d'un rail supérieur horizontal rigide et droit (22) en forme de 'C' afin d'empêcher le ressort de perdre sa tension lorsque le dispositif est étendu latéralement et que le mécanisme de verrouillage est déverrouillé, la tension ou la force de ressort étant alors appliquée aux deux galets horizontaux externes du chariot (15) qui ont un axe de rotation dans le plan vertical et qui sont repoussés de chaque côté des parois internes du rail, ce qui centralise toute force ou contrainte et en soulage l'unité à galets du chariot (15), les galets de l'unité à galets ayant un axe de rotation dans le plan horizontal, lui permettant d'effectuer librement un mouvement de va-et-vient le long du rail (22) en portant le mécanisme à ressort (14), le tube rainuré (12) et la toile (17). Le fait d'étendre et de rétracter le dispositif (11) latéralement permet au tube rainuré (12) de se déplacer latéralement, déroulant et enroulant la toile. Pour enrouler la toile, il faut détacher une bande de toile; la force du ressort entraîne l'enroulement du tube rainuré, provoquant le retour du dispositif contre la paroi. Le déplacement du tube rainuré et la force du ressort permettent de maintenir la toile serrée et sous tension. Le bas du tube rainuré vertical n'est pas maintenu pendant l'enroulement et le déroulement de la toile.
