Abstract

 本発明は、S含有量を低減して強度等の機械的特性を維持すると共に、ハイス工具での断続切削および超硬工具での連続切削の両方で優れた被削性を発揮することのできる機械構造用鋼を提供することを課題とする。本発明の機械構造用鋼は、鋼中に存在する酸化物系介在物が、該酸化物系介在物の平均組成合計を100%(「質量%」の意味、以下同じ)としたときに、CaO:15~60%、SiO2:20%以下(0%を含まない)、Al2O3:20~80%、MgO:40%以下(0%を含まない)、をそれぞれ含有すると共に、Li2O,Na2O,K2O,BaO,SrOおよびTi酸化物よりなる群から選ばれる1種以上の合計含有量が0.5~20%である。
