Abstract

【課題】入射光の向きを変えて出射することが可能で、且つ結合効率が高い光結合素子を提供する。 【解決手段】光ファイバからの光を伝播するコア層と、該コア層の周囲に設けられ該コア層よりも屈折率が低いクラッド層とを備える光導波路を有する光結合素子において、該コア層上に回折格子を設け、該光ファイバと該回折格子間には、該光ファイバからの光を該回折格子に導入する、該クラッド層よりも屈折率が小さい導入部を設けたことを特徴とする光結合素子。
