Abstract

 光量調整手段を簡素で共用化が容易な構造にし、ライトバルブに照射される光の光量を連続的に且つ照度むらを発生させずに、不要光がスクリーン上に照射されないように調整することよって、映像品質を向上させることができる投射型表示装置101であって、その光量調整手段9は、第2のレンズアレイ22に向かう光を遮光する遮光体91L,91Rと、遮光体のそれぞれをxy平面上で回動可能に支持する回動軸91LA,91RAとを有し、回動軸91LA,91RAが、xy座標上で光軸AXを中心として対称の位置に、且つ、回動によって遮光体91L,91Rが第2のレンズアレイ22に向かう光を遮光し始める遮光開始位置から遮光体が第2のレンズアレイ22に向かう光を最も多く遮光する最大遮光位置までの回動範囲が90度以下になるように、遮光体91L,91R及び回動軸91LA,91RAを配置した。
