Abstract

　光量調整手段を簡素で共用化が容易な構造にし、ライトバルブに照射される光の光量を連続的に且つ照度むらを発生させずに、不要光がスクリーン上に照射されないように調整することよって、映像品質を向上させることができる投射型表示装置１０１であって、その光量調整手段９は、第２のレンズアレイ２２に向かう光を遮光する遮光体９１Ｌ，９１Ｒと、遮光体のそれぞれをｘｙ平面上で回動可能に支持する回動軸９１ＬＡ，９１ＲＡとを有し、回動軸９１ＬＡ，９１ＲＡが、ｘｙ座標上で光軸ＡＸを中心として対称の位置に、且つ、回動によって遮光体９１Ｌ，９１Ｒが第２のレンズアレイ２２に向かう光を遮光し始める遮光開始位置から遮光体が第２のレンズアレイ２２に向かう光を最も多く遮光する最大遮光位置までの回動範囲が９０度以下になるように、遮光体９１Ｌ，９１Ｒ及び回動軸９１ＬＡ，９１ＲＡを配置した。
