[35]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [36] Now, a safety guard rail of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the annexed drawings.
[37] The safety guard rail of the present invention includes guard plates and posts, which are obtained by extrusion molding or injection molding using a synthetic resin rather than a metal, and the guard plates, which have a hollow structure so as to protect drivers of vehicles and pedestrians, are fixed to the posts by wave type connectors serving as connection brackets.
[38] As shown in FIGs. 1 to 6, posts 100 are perpendicularly installed on a roadway surface, and guard plates 300 are fixed to the posts 100 by bolts 160 by wave type connectors 180 using bolts 160 and nuts (not shown).
[39] The guard plates 300 have a hollow structure so as to protect drivers of vehicles and pedestrians. Shock absorbers 140 are disposed at regular intervals in a shape thickness part 130, which is formed along the external surface of the guard plate 300, so as to increase the strength of the guard plate 300 when a vehicle collides with the safety guard rail.
[40] The shock absorbers 140 are disposed in the thickness part 130, and prevent the external surface of the guard plate 300 from being broken when an external impact is applied to the safety guard rail. Further, supporters 150 having a triangular shape are disposed in the internal space of the guard plate 300 within the thickness part 130 so as to cause the inside of the guard plate 300 to be first broken when a stronger external impact is applied to the safety guard rail.
[41] Statistics figures show that the probability of death when a vehicle driver collides with a hard article is high.
[42] Accordingly, in the guard plate 300 of the safety guard rail of the present invention, the inside of the guard plate 300 is firstly broken, and then the external surface of the guard plate 300 is secondarily broken. Thereby, the guard plate 300 absorbs an impact, which is applied to a driver, by two steps.
[43] The guard plate 300 is inserted into a hollow 170 of the wave type connector 180 so that the safety guard rail is conveniently installed on a roadway surface.
[44] The wave type connector 180 is provided with the hollow 170, having a section of the same shape as that of the guard plates 300, provided with both ends, into which two guard plates 300 are respectively inserted, so that the guard plates 300 can be conveniently attached to and detached from the wave type connector 180.
[45] Two guard plates 300 are inserted into both ends of the hollow 170 of the wave type connector 180, as described above. Then, the wave type connector 180 is fixed to the post 100 by through holes 120, which are formed through the wave type connector 180 and the post 100, using the bolts 160 inserted into the through holes 120 and nuts.
[46] The guard plate 300 has a double structure such that the external surface of the guard plate 300 contacting the roadway surface has a high strength so as to reduce an impact caused by vehicle collision with the guard rail and the inside of the guard plate 300 has a low strength. Further, the external surface of the guard plate 300 has a large thickness, and the inside of the guard plate 300 is provided with the supporters 150 having a small thickness. That is, when a vehicle collides with the safety guard rail, a difference of thicknesses between the external surface and the inside of the guard plate 300 allows the inside of the guard plate 300 to be easily broken so as to absorb an impact, and the external surface of the guard plate 300 having a high strength not to be easily broken so as to protect a vehicle driver from broken pieces of the guard plate 300.
[47] As shown in FIG. 3, the guard plate 300 has a double structure such that the external surface of the guard plate 300 has a high strength so as to reduce an impact caused by vehicle collision with the guard rail and the inside of the guard plate 300 has a low strength, and the external surface of the guard plate 300 has a large thickness and the inside of the guard plate 300 is provided with the supporters 150 having a small thickness, in which breaking grooves 150-1 are formed so that the supporters 150 in the guard plate 300 are firstly broken. Thereby, the guard plate 300 absorbs an impact by two steps, thus protecting a vehicle driver.
[48] As shown in FIGs. 4 and 5, the shock absorbers 140, which are disposed in the thickness part 130 of the external surface of the guard plate 300, have a triangular or a circular section.
[49] The surface of the guard plate 300 is painted with a fluorescent material or a luminous material and thus may have various colors, so as to cause the guard plate 300 to be recognizable at night. Further, a separate bracket may be mounted on the guard plate 300. Moreover, a soft rubber material or a cushion material may be formed on the surface of the guard plate 300, or may be obtained by double injection molding.
[50] In another embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 6, connection portions 200 are respectively formed on the upper and lower surfaces of the guard plate 300 so that a guard rail assembly can have a large height and various colors at a specific place, such as a sharp curved roadway or a children protection area.
[51] That is, in order to connect the guard plate 300 to another guard plate 300 vertically, the connection portions 200 are respectively formed on the upper and lower surfaces of the guard plate 300 and a connection pin 260 is interposed between the connection portions 200 of the vertically neighboring guard plates 300. Thus, in case that a specific guard plate 300 is damaged, it is possible to easily repair the damaged guard plate 300.
[52] Now, the post of the guard rail will be described in detail. In the guard rail, the post is just as important as the guard plate. [53] As shown in FIGs. 7 to 9, in a guard rail in accordance with the present invention, which includes posts 400, guard plates 300, and wave type connection members for connecting the guard plates 300 to each other, each of the posts 400 includes an outer edge part 350 and a core part 360, which are manufactured by molding so as to have a honeycomb structure.
[54] The post 400, as shown in FIGs. 7 and 8, includes the outer edge part 350, the core part 360, and a plurality of reinforcement members 440 disposed from the outer edge part 350 to the core part 360 at regular intervals. Through holes 460 are formed through the reinforcement members 440, and the guard plate 300 is fixed to the post 100 by bolts 310 inserted into the through holes 460 and nuts 320. The post 400 further includes inner edge surfaces 330 disposed in multiple rows parallel to the outer edge part 350, and a plurality of perpendicular bars 340 disposed on the inner edge surfaces 330 perpendicularly to the inner edge surfaces 330.
[55] The post 400 is manufactured by injection molding and thus is used for a long time, compared with a conventional post made of steel, and has a low production cost.
[56] The post 400, as described above, which includes the outer edge part 350, the core part 360, the inner edge surfaces 330 disposed in multiple rows between the outer edge part 350 and the core part 360, and the perpendicular bars 340 disposed on the inner edge surfaces 330 perpendicularly to the inner edge surfaces 330, is solid and light.
[57] Here, the through holes 460, which are formed through the reinforcement members
440 of the post 400, serve to firmly fix the guard plate 300 to the post 400.
[58] A lid 450 for preventing external foreign substances from entering the post 400 and improving the external appearance of the post 400 is put on the upper end of the post 400, and a prop 380, into which the lower end of the post 400 is inserted, is provided.
[59] The prop 380 is provided with supporters 370 having a triangular shape formed integrally with the side surface thereof. The post 400, the lower end of which is inserted into the prop 380, is fixed to the prop 380 by a bolt 390. The prop 380 is fixed to the lower surface of the ground together with a concrete structure, or is fixed to the upper surface of the ground by an anchor bolt. Here, the prop 380 is preferably made of a metal.
[60] With reference to FIG. 10, another post 400 has a honeycomb structure, and includes inner edge surfaces having a honeycomb structure between an outer edge part 350 and a core part 360.
[61] FIGs. 11 and 12 illustrate a safety guard rail in accordance with yet another embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, guard plates 300 are respectively protruded from the front and rear portions of the guard plates 300. The protruded portions of the guard plates 300 may cause a fatal impact to a vehicle driver, when the front part of a vehicle collides with the guard rail. In order to minimize this impact, collision prevention girders 500 are respectively installed on the front and rear portions of the guard plates 300. [62] Each of the collision prevention girders 500 is provided with a slot 420 formed in a designated position of the circumferential surface thereof in a longitudinal direction, and is fixed to the safety guard rail by fitting a guide bar 410, into which the protruding portion of the guard plate 300 is inserted, into the slot 420 of the collision prevention girder 500. Further, cushion members 430 are mounted on the circumferential surface of the collision prevention girders 500 so as to reduce an impact when a vehicle collides with the safety guard rail. [63] Accordingly, the safety guard rail of this embodiment does not require a separate safety structure installed at the front of the guard rail. [64]
Industrial Applicability [65] As apparent from the above description, the present invention provides a safety guard rail, which solves problems caused by an iron structure, and is conveniently constructed so as to reduce a working time. [66] The safety guard rail of the present invention reduces an impact applied to a driver when a vehicle collides with the guard rail, prevents the vehicle from being separated from a roadway, and protects pedestrians. [67] The safety guard rail of the present invention reduces an impact by two steps, thus gradually reducing the impact. [68] The safety guard rail of the present invention includes posts and collision prevention girders and thus is conveniently constructed, thereby being useful in a roadway guard rail industry. [69] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
