Abstract

 高解像度化が可能で高い開口率を保持できる表示素子の構成を保ったまま、広い色再現領域と高い色純度が実現できる表示装置を提供する。第1の色を発する第1の光源(31G)と、第1の色に対して補色関係にある色の光を発する第2の光源(31RB)とを備えた照明装置(3)と、0.5フレーム周期で各走査線(GL)を順次選択するゲートドライバ(24)と、1フレーム期間の前半において第1の色の画素および、第2の色および第3の色の画素の少なくともいずれか一方に、データ信号を書き込み、後半において第2の色および第3の色の画素へデータ信号を書き込むデータドライバ(23)と、1フレーム期間の前半において第1の光源(31G)を点灯させると共に第2の光源(31RB)を消灯し、期間の後半において第2の光源(31RB)を点灯させると共に第1の光源(31G)を消灯するスイッチ回路(26)とを備える。
