Abstract

 PDPを駆動するときに、1階調目の輝度を、0階調目と2階調目の中間輝度1.05cd/m2程度まで低減することによって、低階調表現力を向上させることを目的とする。  そのために、複数のサブフィールド(SF)のうち輝度重み最小のサブフィールドSF1の維持消去期間P13において、それ以外のSFの維持期間P23に印加する電圧Vsusと比べて小さい正極性の電圧Vbkを走査電極に印加する。それと共に、SF1の維持消去期間P13において、アドレス電極に正極性の電圧Vdaを印加する、あるいは、全セル初期化期間P11の電位上昇期間T11の少なくとも一部期間に、アドレス電極に正極性の電圧Vdaを印加する。
