Abstract

A process for manufacturing a total heat exchanger element, the total heat exchanger element having a sheet-shaped divider member provided on its both sides with spacing retention members so that flow channels are formed and that heat exchange through the divider member is carried out between an air stream flowing through the flow channel formed on one side of the divider member and an air stream flowing through the flow channel formed on the other side of the divider member, which process comprises joining the divider member with the spacing retention members with the use of a water solvent adhesive having a water-soluble moisture absorbentdissolved therein. Accordingly, even when the divider member and the spacing retention members are not provided in advance with a moisture absorbent by impregnation or adhesion, there can be obtained a total heat exchanger element containing a desirable amount of moisture absorbent. As a result, breakage or deformation of the divider member and spacing retention members in the manufacturing process can be inhibited to thereby realize a productivity increase.
