Abstract

While applying pressure to a closed container (1), a liquid to be sterilized is jetted from a nozzle (3) and allowed to collide with the wall of the container (1) to thereby form a liquid film. Thus, a gas is dissolved at a high concentration by using a simple and less expensive apparatus without resorting to a chemical such as chlorine. The liquid containing the gas having been dissolved at a high concentration is incorporated into microbial cells contained in the liquid so as to retain the shape. Next, the gas having been dissolved in the liquid in the microbial cells is foamed and expanded by reducing pressure via, for example, the relief of the pressure. Thus, the microorganisms in the liquid are disrupted to thereby perform sterilization.
