Abstract

 本発明は、発電に伴う液体燃料の減少によって燃料収容部の内圧が低下することを抑制し、ポンプの実質的な送液能力を確保することで、燃料電池セルに対する燃料供給の安定化、および発電反応の効率化を図り、出力特性に優れる燃料電池を提供することを目的とする。 本発明は、燃料電池1は、膜電極接合体2と、燃料供給機構3と、内圧調整機構4とを有している。膜電極接合体2は、燃料極13と、空気極16と、これらに挟持された電解質膜17とを有している。燃料供給機構3は、膜電極接合体2の燃料極13側に配置される燃料分配機構5と、燃料収容部6と、これらを繋ぐ流路7と、この流路7に設けられたポンプ8とを有している。内圧調整機構4は、燃料収容部6の内圧が低下したときに外気を導入するものであり、燃料供給機構3においてポンプ8よりも燃料収容部6側に設けられている。
