Abstract

 燃料電池システムに関し、アノードガス流路内の不純物質の蓄積に起因する燃料電池性能の低下の防止と、系外への燃料ガスの排気量の抑制とを両立させる。  アノードのガス流路の下流側端部を排気弁14によって開閉可能とする。排気弁14は、アノードガス流路内での燃料ガスの消費量に比較して微小量のガスを系外へ排気する排気モードと、アノードガス流路と系外との連通を遮断する閉塞モードとを択一的に選択可能にする。燃料電池2の運転時には、アノードガス流路内の不純物質の下流方向への流れを検出し、不純物質の下流方向への流れが検出されるときには排気モードを選択する。一方、不純物質の下流方向への流れが検出されるまでは閉塞モードを選択する。
