Abstract

本発明は、有機発光層で発光した光の光取り出し効率を高くし、光の角度依存性のない平面発光装置を提供することを目的とする。本発明の平面発光装置10は、有機EL素子30の透明基板12の上にポリマーにより形成され、ポリマーの空気と接触する表面にランダムな凹凸が連続的に形成されており、凹凸が曲面で形成された光取り出し層22を有する。凹凸24が曲面であるため、光取り出し層22と空気との屈折率が徐々に変化する。また、凹凸24に平坦な部分がないため、界面で平面発光装置10の内部に戻るように反射する光を少なくすることができる。
