- the paperboard layer 42 may include any conventional paperboard substrate, such as solid bleached sulfate (SBS), folding boxboard and recycled board, and may have a weight of about 10 pt. or greater.
- the paperboard layer 42 may be formed from or may include a 12-point SBS board manufactured by MeadWestvaco Corporation. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the paperboard layer 42 may be bleached or unbleached board, depending upon the desired appearance of the final package 10.
- the coating layer 52 may include a printable coating selected for compatibility with the desired printing method and the selected substrate for the paperboard layer 42.
- the coating layer 52 may include clay or calcium carbonate.
- the coating layer 52 may be presented on the outer surface 17B of the blank 16 and the outer surface 38 of the blank 34.
- the tear resistant layer 48 may be formed from or may include any tear resistant material, such as an oriented film (e.g., unidirectionally oriented films and biaxially oriented films).
- oriented films include MYLARTM, which is a biaxially oriented polyester, oriented nylon (e.g., DARTEKTM) and cross-laminated polyolefin films such as VALERONTM or INTEPLUSTM, which are high density polyolefms.

- the sealing layer 50 may be formed from or may include any material that bonds to the tear resistant layer 48 and other sealing layers 50 upon the application of heat, radio frequency energy and/or ultrasonic energy.
- An example of a sealable material useful for the sealing layer 50 is ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), which may form a seal under heat or upon exposure to radio frequency energy and ultrasonic energy.
- Examples of heat sealable materials include ethylene methyl acrylate (EMA), copolymers of EVA and EMA, and combinations of EVA and/or EMA and other polymers or materials.
- the sealing layer 50 may be presented as a sealing material on the sealing surface 17A of the blank 16, including the sealing surface 25 of the sealing flange 24, and the sealing surface 36 of the blank 34.
- Additional examples of sealable, tear resistant substrates and materials from which the blanks 16, 34 may be formed are provided in U.S. Ser. No. 11/545,842 filed on October 11, 2006, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
- package 10 may be formed by (1) assembling the blank 16 into a three- dimensional vessel portion 12, as shown in Fig. 4, (2) aligning the sealing surface 36 of the lid portion 14 with the sealing surface 25 of the sealing flange 24 of the vessel portion 12 and, if necessary, depending on the type of sealing material used, (3) applying heat, radio frequency energy, ultrasonic energy, microwave energy and/or an adhesive to seal the lid portion 14 to the vessel portion 12, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
- a second aspect of the disclosed paperboard security package may include a vessel portion 12' and a lid portion 14', wherein the vessel portion 12' and the lid portion 14' are formed as an integral blank 16' capable of being manipulated into a three-dimensional package.
- the blank 16' may have an inner, sealing surface 17A' (Figs. 7 and 8) and a outer surface 17B'.
- the blank 16' may include a bottom surface 18', side walls 2OA', 2OB', 2OC, 2OD', gussets 22A', 22B', 22C ⁇ 22D ⁇ sealing flanges 24A', 24B', 24C and a lid 34'.

- a vessel portion 12, 12' and a lid portion 14, 14' formed from a tear resistant paperboard structure and a sealing surface-to- sealing surface seal between the lip portion and vessel portion resists tampering and reduces theft.

Abstract
La présente invention a trait à un conditionnement de sûreté en carton qui inclut une découpe incluant une surface de scellage intérieure et une surface extérieure et définissant au moins trois parois latérales, chacune des parois latérales étant séparées des parois latérales adjacentes par un soufflet associé, lequel soufflet est formé à partir d'une structure incluant une couche de carton, une couche résistante à la déchirure et une couche de scellage, laquelle couche de scellage de la structure correspond à la surface de scellage intérieure de la découpe, et une partie de couvercle incluant une surface de scellage intérieure en mesure de mettre en prise une partie de la surface de scellage intérieure de la découpe lorsque cette dernière se trouve dans une configuration assemblée.
