Description

Description TRADITIONAL KOREAN-STYLE APARTMENT HOUSE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to an apartment house, and more particularly, to a traditional Korean-style apartment house including a traditional Korean-style shared space and a sitting place such as a traditional Korean-style dae chung floor and an arbor. Background Art
[2] An apartment house is a building in which a plurality of residential apartments are independently included.
[3] Examples of apartment houses include condominiums, row houses, multi-unit dwelling buildings, and residential-commercial buildings in which residential apartments and stores or offices are included.
[4] Generally, such an apartment house is divided into individual apartments having a rectangular box shape, and each apartment has a rectangular or square side- sectional shape, such that a number of apartments can be efficiently arranged in series.
[5] In each apartment, a shared space such as a living room may occupy the largest area of the apartment. Commonly, the living room is located at a center portion of the apartment, and furniture or appliances such as a sofa, a television, and an audio system are installed at the living room for residential members to share the furniture or appliances.
[6] Furthermore, a window can be formed at a front side of the living room, and a balcony facing the window can be disposed outside the living room. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[7] In a conventional apartment house, a number of apartments are densely stacked, and thus the ceiling level of a living room is low. Therefore, residential members may feel stuffy due to the low ceiling level, and it is difficult to provide comfortable living room environments for the residential members.
Technical Solution
[8] The present invention is directed to a traditional Korean-style apartment house that substantially obviates such disadvantages and limitations and provides a comfortable shared space for residential members. [9] In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a traditional Korean-style apartment house, including: a living loom as a shared space for residential members; and a balcony extending from the living room, wherein the living room includes: an extension region in which a ceiling slab surface of the living room is higher than a reference ceiling slab surface of the living room; and an elevated floor region in which a floor slab surface of the living room is higher than a reference floor slab surface of the living room, wherein the ceiling slab surface of the extension region has approximately the same height as a ceiling of the balcony.
[10] Preferably, an extension region of a lower story apartment and an elevated floor region of an upper story apartment may be alternately stacked, and an elevated floor region of the lower story apartment and an extension region of the upper story apartment may be alternately stacked.
[11] Preferably, the elevated floor region may be disposed close to the extension region.
[12] More preferably, the extension region may communicate with the elevated floor region.
[13] Preferably, the elevated floor region may include a jaw portion adapted for a residential member to sit on.
[14] More preferably, the jaw portion may adjoin the extension region and may be shaped like a sofa.
[15] More preferably, the jaw portion may include an oblique surface.
[16] Preferably, the elevated floor region may include a protrusion adapted for a residential member to rest on and sit on.
[17] More preferably, the protrusion may include an oblique surface.
[18] In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, a traditional Korean-style apartment house, including a living loom as a shared space for residential members, wherein the living room includes: an extension region in which a ceiling slab surface of the living room is higher than a reference ceiling slab surface of the living room; and an elevated floor region in which a floor slab surface of the living room is higher than a reference floor slab surface of the living room, wherein a plurality of elevated floor regions of an upper story apartment is closely disposed at a portion corresponding to an extension region of a lower story apartment.
[19] Preferably, the extension region and the elevated floor region may adjoin windows.
[20] Preferably, the elevated floor region may include a protrusion adapted for a residential member to rest on and sit on.
[21] Preferably, the elevated floor region may include a jaw portion for a residential member to sit on.
[22] Preferably, the elevated floor region and the extension region may not adjoin each other.
Advantageous Effects
[23] As described above, the living room of the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the present invention includes the extension region so that the living room can have a high ceiling level like a Korean traditional house to make residential members comfortable.
[24] Furthermore, the living room of the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the present invention includes the elevated floor region as a sitting place like a Korean traditional dae chung floor. Therefore, a comfortable rest place can be provided to residential members.
[25] Therefore, the traditional Korean-style apartment house can have the advantages of a modern apartment house providing dwellings to a number of households by using only a small piece of land, and the advantages of a Korean traditional house providing a high ceiling level and a traditional floor such as a dae chung floor as a comfortable rest place.
[26] Moreover, in the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the present invention, an extension region of a lower story apartment and an elevated floor region of an upper story apartment are alternately stacked. Therefore, although the floor level of each apartment of the traditional Korean-style apartment house can vary, the apartments can have the same size and floor level pattern. Therefore, apartments can be efficiently disposed in the traditional Korean-style apartment house.
[27] In addition, the elevated floor region can include the jaw portion as a replacement to furniture such as a sofa and a chair. Therefore, residential members can rest on the jaw portion comfortably.

[44] Hereinafter, a traditional Korean-style apartment house in accordance with the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[45] Although an apartment house is illustrated in the following description, the present invention can be applied to other buildings.
[46] In the drawings, the thicknesses of layers and regions can be exaggerated for clarity.
[47] Also, the terms used herein are defined according to the functions of the present invention.
[48] Thus, the terms may vary depending on user s or operator s intension and usage. That is, the terms used herein must be understood based on the descriptions made herein.
[49] Fig. 1 illustrates a front view of a traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 2 illustrates a living room 50 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[50] Fig. 3 illustrates a plan view of a lower story apartment 20 of the traditional Korean- style apartment house 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 4 illustrates a plan view of an upper story apartment 40 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 5 illustrates a side sectional view of living rooms 50 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[51] Referring to Figs. 1 to 5, the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 of the current embodiment includes living rooms 50 as shared spaces for residential members and balconies 80 extending from the living rooms 50.
[52] The living room 50 includes an extension region 60 and an elevated floor region 70.
In the extension region 60, the ceiling slab surface of the living room 50 is higher than a reference ceiling slab surface 112 of the living room 50. In the elevated floor region 70, the floor slab surface of the living room 50 is higher than a reference floor slab surface 114 of the living room 50.
[53] The reference ceiling slab surface 112 is defined by a lower surface of a reference slab 110 dividing the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 into stories. The reference floor slab surface 114 is defined by an upper surface of the reference slab 110.
[54] The extension region 60 is defined in the living room 50 from the reference floor slab surface 114 to a raised ceiling slab surface 60a, and the elevated floor region 70 is defined in the living room 50 from a raised floor slab surface 70a to the reference ceiling slab surface 112.
[55] Therefore, referring to Fig. 5, the raised ceiling slab surface 60a of an extension region 62 of the lower story apartment 20 is higher than the reference ceiling slab surface 112 of a living room 52 of the lower story apartment 20 so that residential members can feel open and comfortable, like being in a traditional Korean-style house.
[56] The raised ceiling slab surface 60a of the extension region 62 of the lower story apartment 20 may be higher than the reference floor slab surface 114 of the upper story apartment 40.
[57] If the thickness of the reference slab 110 is sufficiently large, the raised ceiling slab surface 60a of the extension region 62 of the lower story apartment 20 can be higher than the reference ceiling slab surface 112 of the living room 52 but lower than the reference floor slab surface 114 of a living room 54 of the upper story apartment 40.
[58] The floor slab surface 70a of the elevated floor region 70 functions as a floor such as a Korean traditional dae chung floor. For example, residential members can sit on the elevated floor region 70 and relax.
[59] The height of the floor slab surface 70a of the elevated floor region 70 can be varied according to applications. For example, the height of the floor slab surface 70a of the elevated floor region 70 can be varied. That is, the distance between the floor slab surface 70a and the reference ceiling slab surface 112 of the living room 50 can be varied. For example, the distance between the floor slab surface 70a and the reference ceiling slab surface 112 of the living room 50 can be greater than a predetermined length so that residential members can sit on the elevated floor region 70 to play games such as baduk (a board game) and can freely walk on the elevated floor region 70.
[60] Alternatively, the distance between the floor slab surface 70a and the reference ceiling slab surface 112 of the living room 50 can be smaller than the predetermined length. In this case, the elevated floor region 70 can be used for placing and storing things.
[61] The raised ceiling slab surface 60a of the extension region 60 of the living room 50 can have the same height as a portion of the ceiling of the balcony 80. In this case, the balconies 80 can have an extension region.
[62] Owing to the extension region 60 formed at the living room 50, residential members can move largely in the living room 50. For example, residential members can practice golf swings at the living room 50. Therefore, residential members can feel open and fresh at the living room 50 like in the case where the residential members are at a garden.
[63] In Korean, it is common to sit on an ondol floor (a Korean traditional floor with a floor heating structure) or a dae chung floor and play games such as jangi (oriental chess) or baduk or have a meal. Since the elevated floor region 70 of the living room 50 provides substantially the same functions as the ondol floor or the dae chung floor, activities such as jangi, baduk, and dining be carried out on the elevated floor region 70 of the living room 50 functioning.
[64] As explained above, each apartment of the traditional Korean-style apartment house
100 of the current embodiment includes the extension region 60 and the elevated floor region 70. Thus, the floor level of each apartment may vary. However, the apartments can have the same size owing to the above-described structure.
[65] To allow apartments of the same story to have the same size, the extension region 62 of the lower story apartment 20 and an elevated floor region 74 of the upper story apartments 40 are alternately stacked, and an elevated floor region 72 of the lower story apartment 20 and an extension region 64 of the upper story apartments 40 are alternatively stacked.
[66] That is, the extension regions 60 and the elevated floor regions 70, which are alternately stacked, vary in position across stories of the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100.
[67] In addition, the living rooms 52 of the lower story apartment 20 and the living room
54 of the upper story apartment 40 are alternately stacked in a zigzag fashion, and a balcony 82 of the lower story apartment 20 and a balcony 84 of the upper story apartments 40 are alternately stacked in a zigzag fashion.
[68] In an apartment of the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100, the extension region 60 increases the inner space of the apartment and the elevated floor region 70 decreases the inner space of the apartment so that the total inner space of the apartment can be constant. Therefore, the lower story apartment 20 and the upper story apartment 40 can have the same size.
[69] Furthermore, since the elevated floor region 70 is close to the extension region 60, a residential member sitting on the elevated floor region 70 can see the extension region 60 so that the residential member sitting on the elevated floor region 70 can feel open and comfortable owing to the extension region 60.
[70] Fig. 6 illustrates a sectional view of a jaw portion 90 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[71] Referring to Fig. 6, the jaw portion 90 is formed at the elevated floor region 70 close to the living room 50. An article 90b such as a sofa cushion and a mat can be disposed on the jaw portion 90. In this case, an additional article such as a sofa may be not necessary.
[72] The height of the jaw portion 90 is properly selected such that a distance between a reference floor slab surface and the top of the article 90b is approximately equal to the height of knees of average adults. In addition, the width of the jaw portion 90 may be approximately the same as the distance between knee and hip. Therefore, a person can sit on the jaw portion 90 or the article 90b comfortably.
[73] Owing to the jaw portion 90, the living room 50 can be efficiently used, and additional furniture such as a sofa is not necessary. Therefore, time and costs can be saved in furnishing the living room 50.
[74] A support member 90a can be disposed at the elevated floor region 70 close to the jaw portion 90. A person sitting on the jaw portion 90 can rest his/her head on the support member 90a.
[75] The support member 90a can extend along an edge of the elevated floor region 70 to prevent a person from falling down from the elevated floor region 70 to the floor of the living room 50.
[76] Edges of the support member 90a are smoothly curved so that residential members can comfortably rest on the support member 90a, the possibility of accidents caused by sharp edges can be prevented.
[77] Referring to Figs. 5 and 6, the extension region 62 of the lower story apartment 20 is disposed under the jaw portion 90 of the upper story apartment 40, and a region of the extension region 62 of the lower story apartment 20 is stepped in correspondence with the jaw portion 90 of the upper story apartment 40. The stepped region of the extension region 62 is covered with a finishing member 118, and a space 116 is formed between the stepped region of the extension region 62 and the finishing member 118.
[78] Apparatuses such as an air conditioner and an illumination device can be installed at the space 116. That is, since such apparatuses can be covered with the finishing member 118, the ceiling of the apartment can be neat.
[79] Fig. 7 illustrates a perspective view of a living room of a traditional Korean-style apartment house according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
[80] Referring to Fig. 7, like the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the first embodiment, the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the second embodiment includes a living room 150, an extension region 160, an elevated floor region 170, and a jaw portion 190. The traditional Korean-style apartment house of the second embodiment is characterized by a protrusion 176 formed on the elevated floor region 170.
[81] The protrusion 176 has a square pyramid shape so that residential members can rest with their backs on oblique surfaces of the protrusion 176.
[82] Articles such as cushions can be attached to the protrusion 176. In this case, residential members can comfortably relax with their backs on the cushions.
[83] When the protrusion 176 has a square pyramid shape, four oblique surfaces can be provided. In this case, an extension region 160 of a lower story apartment can have a pyramid shaped section corresponding to the protrusion 176 of an upper story apartment.
[84] Devices such as an illumination device can be installed in the pyramid shaped section, thereby maximizing efficiency in utilization of space. In addition, owing to this structure, the living room 150 can be furnished or decorated more easily.
[85] As long as residential members can rest on the protrusion 176, the protrusion 176 can have various shapes, such as a post having a plurality of jaw portions, a rectangular box, and a pyramid with the top cut off. This would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the related art. Thus, detailed descriptions or drawings thereof will be omitted.
[86] Exemplary activities or functions that can be possible owing to the present invention will now be described in accordance with the first embodiment.
[87] Referring to Figs. 1 to 5, the living room 50 includes the extension region 60 such that the ceiling of the living room 50 can be substantially elevated. Therefore, activities requiring large motions such as golf swings, aerobics, and gymnastics can be carried out in the living room 50.
[88] Furthermore, since the extension region 60 extends to the balcony 80, comfortable indoor environments and a vertically expanded view can be provided like the case of a traditional Korean-style house.
[89] Moreover, residential members can rest on the elevated floor region 70 like a Korean traditional dae chung floor, and the jaw portion 90 formed on the elevated floor region 70 functions like a bench or a narrow porch. Therefore, since additional furniture is not necessary, the area of the living room 50 can be practically increased, and time and costs can be reduced for furnishing the living room 50. [90] In Figs. 2, 5, 6 and 7, reference numeral 120 denotes beams arranged on substantially the same plane as the reference slab 110.
[91] Fig. 8 illustrates a perspective view of a traditional Korean-style apartment house according to a third embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 9 illustrates a plan view of a lower story 220 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house according to the third embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 10 illustrates a plan view of an upper story 240 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house according to the third embodiment of the present invention.
[92] Referring to Figs. 8 to 10, as compared with the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the first embodiment, the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the third embodiment is characterized by positions of an extension region and an elevated floor region.
[93] The traditional Korean-style apartment house of the third embodiment includes living rooms 252, 254, 256, and 258 as shared spaces for residential members, extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248, and elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244. The extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248 are formed by raising portions of ceiling slab surfaces of the living rooms 252, 254, 256, and 258 higher than reference ceiling slab surfaces. The elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244 are formed by raising portions of floor slab surfaces of the living rooms 252, 254, 256, and 258 higher than reference floor slab surfaces.
[94] The traditional Korean-style apartment house of the third embodiment is a tower type residential-commercial apartment house in which apartments are disposed at four corners or both sides of each story.
[95] The traditional Korean-style apartment house does not have balconies extending from the living rooms, and windows are formed on four sides of the traditional Korean-style apartment house.
[96] Thus, a person sitting on the elevated floor region 214 can see the outside landscape through the window although the elevated floor region 214 is not disposed close to the extension region 224.
[97] The extension regions 222 and 224, and the elevated floor regions 212 and 214 are structures of the lower story 220.
[98] The extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248, and the elevated floor regions 212,
214, 242, and 244 can be disposed at desired positions at the living rooms 252, 254, 256, and 258 without having to form the elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244 close to the extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248.
[99] In an apartment of the upper story 240, the extension region 246 is disposed at a front or rear side, and the elevated floor regions 242 are disposed at both sides.
[100] Thus, the elevated floor regions 242 and 244 of the upper story 240 are aligned with the extension regions 222 and 224 of the lower story 220.
[101] The extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248, and the elevated floor regions 212,
214, 242, and 244 are respectively close to the windows of the apartments so that residential members sitting on the elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244 can see the landscape through the windows although the elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244 are not close to the extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248.
[102] Like the first embodiment, in the third embodiment, jaw portions (refer to the jaw portion 90 shown in Fig. 6) can be formed at sides of the elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244 close to the extension regions 222, 224, 246, and 248, and articles (refer to the article 90b shown in Fig. 6) can be disposed on the jaw portions.
[103] Like the second embodiment, protrusions (refer to the protrusion 176 shown in Fig. 7) can be formed on the elevated floor regions 212, 214, 242, and 244. The protrusions can have various shapes as described in the second embodiment.
[104] Fig. 11 illustrates a partial schematic structure of a traditional Korean-style apartment house according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 12 illustrates a plan view of a lower story 320 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 13 illustrates a plan view of an upper story 340 of the traditional Korean-style apartment house according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention.
[105] Referring to Figs. 11 to 13, the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the fourth embodiment is characterized in that apartments of the lower story 320 and the upper story 340 have different sizes. That is, according to the current embodiment, large apartments, medium-size apartments, and small apartments can be included in the traditional Korean-style apartment house.
[106] For example, a large apartment can be disposed at the upper story 340, and two medium-size or small apartments can be disposed at the lower story 320. In this case, the size of the large apartment of the upper story 340 may be approximately equal to the sum of the sizes of the two small apartments of the lower story 320.
[107] The large apartment includes a large living room 354 in which an extension region 364 is formed.
[108] Elevated floor regions 374 are formed at both sides of the large apartment of the upper story 340. An extension region 362 of the left small apartment of the lower story 320 is formed by the left elevated floor region 374 of the large apartment of the upper story 340, and an extension region 362 of the right small apartment of the lower story 320 is formed by the right elevated floor region 374 of the large apartment of the upper story 340.
[109] In this way, the two medium or small sized apartments each including the extension region 362 and an elevated floor region 372 can be disposed at the lower story 320, and the large apartment including the extension region 364 and the elevated floor regions 374 can be disposed at the upper story 340.
[110] Alternatively, large apartments can be disposed at both upper and lower stories. For example, the two apartments of the lower story 320 can be combined to form a large apartment.
[I l l] In this way, a large apartment can have a large elevated floor region at a center portion of the living room or two elevated floor regions at both sides of the living room. The elevated floor region can be used in various ways. For example, the elevated floor region can be used as a dining place after disposing a dining table having a small height on the large elevated floor region. In another example, the elevated floor region can be used as a sleeping place.
[112] In Fig. 13, reference numeral 390 denotes a jaw portion shaped like a sofa.
[113] Fig. 14 illustrates a plan view of a lower story apartment of a traditional Korean-style apartment house according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 15 illustrates a plan view of an upper story apartment of the traditional Korean-style apartment house according to the fifth embodiment of the present invention.
[114] Referring to Figs. 14 and 15, the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the current embodiment is a building formed by a Rahmen construction method. The traditional Korean-style apartment house includes a living room 450, and the living room 450 includes an extension region 460 and an elevated floor region 470.
[115] In a wall construction method, no post is disposed at a living room. However, since the traditional Korean-style apartment house of the current embodiment is constructed by the Rahmen method, posts 490 are disposed at a living room 450.
[116] The extension region 460 and the elevated floor region 470 are formed by elevating a slave plate disposed between the posts 490 higher than a reference slave plate.
[117] A balcony 480 is disposed on a front side of the living room 450 where the extension region 460 is formed. Therefore, like the first embodiment, the balcony 480 can have an extension region.
[118] In Figs. 14 and 15, reference numeral 495 denotes a jaw portion shaped like a sofa.
[119] While the present invention has been described with respect to the specific embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
[120] For example, the present invention can be applied to other houses or buildings as well as the above-explained apartment house and the residential-commercial apartment house.
[121] Therefore, the scope and spirit of the present invention should be defined by the following claims.
