  • abrasive material can accumulate in the chain sprocket at the interface between the sprocket and the portion of the chain engaging the sprocket. This can lead to premature wear of that part of the chain which engages the sprocket, as well as the part of the sprocket which is engaged by the chain. Further, the accumulated material can cause the chain to dislodge from the sprocket.

  • the arcuate face 18 is intended to engage the pin assembly of the track chain.
  • Such pin assemblies have an outer cylindrical surface. Accordingly the arcuate face has a complementary profile to the cylindrical surface such that it will closely engage the cylindrical surface for its full width.

  • the channel 20 comprises two channel sections 21, 22 each extending to an opening onto a respective one of the sides 13 of the sprocket 10.

  • the inner ends 23 of the two channel sections 21 , 22 merge at crest 25 which is located centrally along the channel.
  • the cross-sectional area of each channel section 21 , 22 increases in the direction from the inner end 23 to the outer end 24. In the case of the first embodiment shown, the increase in cross-sectional area is achieved by an increasing width and an increasing depth in the direction from the inner end 23 to the outer end 24.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un barbotin (10) pour véhicule chenillé, ledit véhicule possédant au moins une chenille sans fin adaptée pour isoler le véhicule du sol et en permettre le déplacement sur ce dernier. Le barbotin vient en prise avec la chaîne afin de supporter le véhicule par rapport à cette dernière. Ledit barbotin possède, sur sa périphérie, une pluralité de dents (14), entre lesquelles sont définis des entredents (16) destinés à venir en prise avec des surfaces sensiblement cylindriques présentées par des ensembles axes de la chaîne et séparées par des intervalles le long de cette dernière. Chaque entredent définit une face d'engrènement exact (18) qui est conçue pour venir en prise avec lesdites surfaces cylindriques. Les faces d'engrènement s'étendent entre les faces latérales opposées du barbotin, chacune desdites faces d'engrènement possédant une configuration complémentaire à la partie des surfaces cylindriques avec lesquelles elles viennent en prise, chaque face d'engrènement possédant au moins un canal transversal (20) s'étendant à travers la face d'engrènement à partir d'une extrémité interne (23) située à une position intermédiaire dans la face d'engrènement et donnant, au niveau de son extrémité externe (24), sur au moins un côté du barbotin.
