[0031] カメラ 313は、車両内外の映像を撮像し、画像データとして出力する。カメラ 313で 撮像された画像は、画像データとして磁気ディスク 305あるいは光ディスク 307に記 録可能である。ディスプレイ 314には、アイコン、カーソル、メニュー、ウィンドウ、ある いは文字や画像などの各種データが表示される。このディスプレイ 314は、たとえば、 CRT、 TFT液晶ディスプレイ、プラズマディスプレイなどを採用することができる。な お、このカメラ 313での車両外の映像を常時記録媒体に上書き記録して、例えば、 G センサーにより所定の衝撃を検知することによりその上書き記録された映像を保存す るドライブレコーダー機能が安全支援機能の一つとして構成される。
[0032] 通信 I/F315は、無線を介してネットワークに接続され、ナビゲーシヨン装置と CP U301とのインターフェースとして機能する。通信 I/F315は、さらに、無線を介して インターネットなどの通信網に接続され、この通信網と CPU301とのインターフェース としてあ機倉する。

[0034] 0?3ュニット316は、 GPS衛星からの電波を受信し、ナビゲーシヨン装置を搭載し た車両の位置に関する情報を出力する。 GPSユニット 316の出力情報は、後述する 各種センサ 317の出力値とともに、 CPU301による車両の現在地点の算出に際して 利用される。現在地点を示す情報は、たとえば緯度 ·経度、高度などの、地図データ 上の 1点を特定する情報である。 [0035] 各種センサ 317は、車速センサや角速度センサなどの、車両の位置や挙動を判断 するための情報を出力する。各種センサ 317の出力値は、 CPU301による車両の現 在地点の算出や、速度や方位の変化量の測定に用いられる。また、各種センサ 317 は、電波レーダや赤外線センサなどの、車外の障害物を検知するための情報を出力 する。なお、この車外の障害物を検知して警告を促す機能が安全支援機能の一つと して構成される。
[0036] 以上のナビゲーシヨン装置において、リソース管理を実行する力 ここで、安全支援 機能を含む各機能カ^ストアップされており、機能別に必要リソース量を持っている。 この機能別のリソース量は図 4に示す。このリストアップはあらかじめ機器の出荷時に 設定できるが、ユーザが設定できるようにすることもできる。必要リソース量は、出荷時 にデータが入力されて!/、てもよ!/、し、機器がその都度必要量を調査することもできる
[0037] そして、以上の安全支援機能を主に動作させたい場所を設定しておく。場所の設 定もあらかじめ機器の出荷時に設定できる力、ユーザが設定できるようにすることもで きる。機器にはリソースモニタを備え、各デバイスが現在処理に使用しているリソース 量を、使用総量と動作させている機能ごとにモニタする。
[0038] 図 4は、各機能を使用する場合の各デバイスのリソース量および使用場所を説明す る説明図である。ここでは、機能 A、機能 B、機能 Cについて説明する。各機能は、 C PU (1)、 CPU (2)、 DSP (1)、 DSP (2)の、いずれかまたは複数を使用し、また、車 両の現在位置が交差点を通過しょうとする場所、車両の現在位置が横断歩道を通過 しょうとする場所、車両が高速道路を走行するという場所で使用される。つまり、交差 点を通過しょうとする場所では、当該交差点から所定距離の範囲内に車両の現在位 置が到達し、当該交差点を通過するまで使用され、車両の現在位置が横断歩道を通 過しょうとする場所では、当該横断歩道から所定距離の範囲内に車両の現在位置が 到達して当該横断歩道を通過するまで使用され、車両が高速道路を走行するという 場所では、走行する当該高速道路の範囲内で使用される。これら各範囲が安全優先 エリアと位置付けられて設定される。なお、使用リソース量は MIPSを用いる。
[0039] 機能 Aは、 CPU (1)を使用し、その使用リソース量は、 100MIPSである。一方、 C PU (2)は使用しない。また、 DSP (1)を使用し、その使用リソース量は、 300MIPS である。一方、 DSP (2)は使用しない。なお、交差点エリア、横断歩道エリアで使用さ れるカ 高速道路エリアでは使用されない。この機能 Aの一例としてはドライブレコー ダー機能が挙げられる。
[0040] 機能 Bは、 CPU (1)、 CPU (2)、 DSP (l)のいずれも使用しない。また、 DSP (2)を 使用し、その使用リソース量は、 400MIPSである。なお、交差点エリア、横断歩道ェ リアで使用されるが、高速道路エリアでは使用されない。この機能 Bの一例としては、 自車両に接近している物体(障害物や他車両、歩行者等)の存在をセンサー等により 検知し、警告を促す安全支援機能が挙げられる。
[0041] 機能 Cは、 CPU (1)は使用しない。一方、 CPU (2)を使用し、その使用リソース量 は、 200MIPSである。また、 DSP (l)を使用し、その使用リソース量は、 200MIPS である。一方、 DSP (2)は使用しない。なお、交差点、横断歩道では使用されないが 、高速道路で使用される。なお、この機能 Cの一例としては、速度超過を検出して警 告を促す機能が挙げられる。
[0042] 図 5は、各場所で使用するリソースの量を説明する説明図である。図 4では各機能 が使用される場所を説明したが、ここでは各場所で使用するリソースの合計を説明す る。使用リソース量は MIPSを用いる。使用されるデバイスは、 CPU (1)、 CPU (2)、 DSP (1)、 DSP (2)の 4つであり、そのデバイス上限は、それぞれ 200MIPS、 200 MIPS, 500MIPS、 500MIPSであり、このリソース量までは各機能を選択すること により、各デバイスを使用することができる。
[0043] まず、交差点エリアでは、図 4において示したように、機能 Aおよび機能 Bが使用さ れる。そこで、機能 Aおよび機能 Bで使用されるリソース量を合計し、 CPU (l)の使用 リソース量は 100MIPS、 CPU (2)は使用されず、 DSP (l)の使用リソース量は 300 MIPS, 03? (2)の使用リソース量は400^ 1?3となる。
[0044] また、横断歩道エリアでも交差点と同様、図 4において示したように、機能 Aおよび 機能 Bが使用される。そこで、機能 Aおよび機能 Bで使用されるリソース量を合計し、 CPU (l)の使用リソース量は 100MIPS、 CPU (2)は使用されず、 DSP (l)の使用リ ソース量は 300MIPS、 DSP (2)の使用リソース量は 400MIPSとなる。 [0045] また、高速道路エリアでは、図 4において示したように、機能 Cのみが使用される。 そこで、機能 Cで使用されるリソース量がそのまま当てはまり、 CPU (l)は使用されず 、 CPU (2)の使用リソース量は 200MIPS、 DSP (1)の使用リソース量は 200MIPS 、 DSP (2)は使用されない。
[0046] ナビ地図に基づいて交差点エリアなどの所定の安全支援機能を優先する位置に 来た場合、たとえば交差点での DSP (l)においては、安全支援機能に必要な 300M IPSを確保し、リソースモニタは、安全支援機能以外の機能で使用しているリソースが 上限との差の 200MIPSを超えないように監視する。
[0047] そして、安全支援機能を優先する場所に差し掛かったとき、その場所で動作させた い安全支援機能以外の機能の使用リソース合計が上限を超えているとき、たとえば 交差点エリアでの DSP (l)の場合 200MIPSを超えている場合、 200MIPS以下に なるまで安全支援機能以外の機能を停止する。停止する機能の選択方法は、必要リ ソースの大きい順にしてもよぐあらかじめ出荷時、ユーザが設定した優先順にしても よい。
[0048] 安全支援機能を優先する場所の範囲内で、その場所で動作させた!/、安全支援機 能以外の機能が割り込んでくるとき、割り込んできた機能を含めて機能の使用リソー ス合計が、たとえば 200MIPSを超える場合、割り込みを拒否する力、、あらかじめ決め られた優先順位に従って、より優先順位の低い機能を、 200MIPSを超えないように なるまで停止する。これらの動作は自動でもよいし、ユーザの許可を求めてもよい。ま た終了または一時停止した機能については表示などでユーザに通知する。
[0049] そして、安全支援機能を優先する場所の範囲を出たら、制限を解除し、終了または 一時停止した機能を再開する。制限解除は自動でもよいし、制限解除をユーザに通 知して、ユーザに操作してもらう形でもよい。こうした、安全支援機能を優先したリソー ス管理処理を、図 6を用いて説明する。
[0050] 図 6は、安全支援機能を優先したリソース管理処理を説明するフローチャートである 。まず、安全支援が優先であるか否かを判定する(ステップ S601)。優先でないと判 定された場合 (ステップ S601: No)、所定の位置で安全支援機能を選択するが (ステ ップ S602)、リソース上限を超えている場合には、安全支援機能を必ずしも使用する 必要はなぐ安全支援機能を使わない (ステップ S603)、すなわちキャンセルしてス テツプ S609に進む。
[0051] 優先であると判定された場合 (ステップ S601: Yes)、所定の位置で安全支援機能 を選択し(ステップ S604)、いずれかのデバイスでリソース上限を超えたか否かを判 定する(ステップ S605)。上限を超えない場合(ステップ S605 : No)、そのまま安全 支援機能を使用し (ステップ S606)、ステップ S609に進む。上限を超える場合 (ステ ップ S605 :Yes)、安全支援機能以外の機能を一部停止し (ステップ S607)、安全支 援機能を使用する(ステップ S608)。そして、走行終了か否かを判定し (ステップ S60 9)、走行終了の場合 (ステップ S609 : Yes)、一連の処理を終了する。走行終了でな い場合 (ステップ S609 : No)、ステップ S601に戻る。なお、上記した安全支援機能 以外の機能の例としては、ディスクに記録された情報を再生するディスク再生機能や 、 目的地までの経路を探索して、探索された経路に沿って車両の走行を案内する機 能や、 目的地検索等の各種検索機能等が挙げられる。
[0052] 以上説明した実施例によれば、リソースを共用して各種機能を動作させる場合に、 安全支援が必要な場合は安全支援を優先したリソース配分を実現することができる。 安全優先エリア内でリソースがオーバーする場合でも、安全支援機能が優先して処 理され、安全優先エリア外では、通常通りにリソースが配分される。それにより、安全 に関する機能、安全以外に関する機能など、複数の機能が選択されている場合、安 全に関する機能が優先して実行され、運転中の安全を確保することができる。
[0053] なお、本実施の形態で説明したリソース管理方法は、予め用意されたプログラムを パーソナルコンピュータやワークステーションなどのコンピュータで実行することにより 実現すること力できる。このプログラムは、ハードディスク、フレキシブルディスク、 CD -ROM, MO、 DVDなどのコンピュータで読み取り可能な記録媒体に記録され、コ ンピュータによって記録媒体から読み出されることによって実行される。またこのプロ グラムは、インターネットなどのネットワークを介して配布することが可能な伝送媒体で あってもよい。

請求の範囲
[1] 車両の位置が、所定の安全優先エリア内にあるか否かを判定する判定手段と、 前記判定手段によって前記車両の位置が前記安全優先エリア内にあると判定され
、前記車両に搭載された 1つまたは複数のデバイスを使用することにより実行される 前記車両の安全に関する機能を含む複数の機能を実行するときに使用されるリソー ス量が、いずれかのデバイスで制限範囲を超える場合に、前記複数の機能のうち前 記安全に関する機能を優先的に実行すべくリソース量を前記制限範囲内にする制 御手段と、
を備えることを特徴とするリソース管理装置。
[2] 1つまたは複数のデバイスを使用することにより実行される、車両の走行に関連する 機能を選択する選択手段を備え、
前記制御手段は、前記判定手段によって前記車両の位置が前記安全優先エリア 内にあると判定され、前記選択手段によって選択された複数の機能を実行するときに 使用されるリソース量が、いずれかのデバイスで制限範囲を超える場合に、前記複数 の機能のうち前記安全に関する機能を優先的に実行すべくリソース量を前記制限範 囲内にすることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のリソース管理装置。
[3] 安全優先エリアを指定する指定手段を備え、
前記判定手段は、前記車両の位置が、前記指定手段によって指定された安全優 先エリア内にあるか否かを判定することを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のリソース管理 装置。
[4] 前記制御手段は、前記判定手段によって前記車両の位置が前記安全優先エリア 内にないと判定され、前記選択手段によって選択された複数の機能を実行するとき に使用されるリソース量力 いずれかのデバイスで制限範囲を超える場合に、前記複 数の機能のうち最後に選択された機能の選択をキャンセルさせることを特徴とする請 求項 2に記載のリソース管理装置。
[5] 前記制御手段は、前記選択手段によって選択された機能のうちいずれかの機能の 実行が終了した場合に、キャンセルされた機能を前記選択手段に再度選択させるこ とを特徴とする請求項 2〜4のいずれか一つに記載のリソース管理装置。
[6] 車両の位置が、所定の安全優先エリア内にあるか否かを判定する判定工程と、 前記判定工程によって前記車両の位置が前記安全優先エリア内にあると判定され 、前記車両に搭載された 1つまたは複数のデバイスを使用することにより実行される 前記車両の安全に関する機能を含む複数の機能を実行するときに使用されるリソー ス量が、いずれかのデバイスで制限範囲を超える場合に、前記複数の機能のうち前 記安全に関する機能を優先的に実行すべくリソース量を前記制限範囲内にする制 御工程と、
を含むことを特徴とするリソース管理方法。
[7] 請求項 6に記載のリソース管理方法をコンピュータに実行させることを特徴とするリソ ース管理プログラム。
[8] 請求項 7に記載のリソース管理プログラムを記録したことを特徴とするコンピュータ に読み取り可能な記録媒体。
