[0026] <組立装置〉
光導波路装置 1を組み立てるには、組立装置が用いられる。ここで、光導波路装置 1の組立装置について説明する。
組立装置は、図 2に示すように、 YZステージ 71と、 2つの ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72とを 備える。
YZステージ 71は、図示しないが、容体 20を保持するメカチャックと、容体 20の吸 引孔 23より光導波路チップ 50を吸引するバキュームチャックとを備える。 YZステージ 71は容体 20を保持し、 Y軸方向及び Z軸方向へ移動させる。
ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72は、それぞれリボンファイバー 60を保持するファイバー保持 冶具 73, 73を備え、ファイバー保持冶具 73, 73を X軸方向及び Y軸方向へ移動さ せるとともに、 Z軸を中心に回転させる。

以下、光導波路装置 1の組立工程について説明する。まず、図 2 (a)に示すように、 YZステージ 71のメカチャックにより容体 20を保持する。次いで、容体 20の底部に緩 衝材 40を敷き、その上に光導波路チップ 50を配置し、バキュームチャックにより吸引 孔 23を介して光導波路チップ 50を吸着し、固定する。
[0028] 次に、ストッパー 63に揷通させたリボンファイバー 60を ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72のファ ィバー保持冶具 73, 73に保持させる。
[0029] 次に、図 2 (b)に示すように、 ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72によりファイバー保持冶具 73, 73を Υ軸方向に移動させ、容体 20の介揷部 22a, 22bにリボンファイバー 60を配置 させる。さらに、 ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72によりファイバー保持冶具 73, 73を微動させ、 リボンファイバー 60の先端から露出する光ファイバ一素線 62を光導波路チップ 50の 光ファイバ一接続部 53の溝部 54上に配置する。
[0030] 次に、光ファイバ一接続部 53にガラスブロック 55を載せ、光ファイバ一素線 62を溝 部 54に押さえ付ける。この状態で、 ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72により光ファイバ一素線 62 を微動させ、光ファイバ一素線 62の端面を導波路素子の端面に当接させ、光軸を合 わせる。
[0031] 次に、光ファイバ一接続部 53とガラスブロック 55との間に接着剤を浸透させ、固定 する。さらに、光ファイバ一接続部 53とファイバー被覆 61との間に樹脂 56を供給し、 固化させる。これにより、光導波路チップ 50と光ファイバ一素線 62とが一体となる。
[0032] 次に、リボンファイバー 60が揷通されたストッパー 63を、介揷部 22a, 22bの容体 2 0内側端部に配置する。
[0033] 次に、容体 20及び蓋体 30の介挿き 22a, 22b, 32a, 32bとリボンファイノ一 60と の間、容体 20の上縁部に可撓性接着剤 57を供給し、蓋体 30を容体 20の上に被せ る。そのまま蓋体 30を上方から加圧した状態で、例えば室温で 30分放置することに より、可撓性接着剤 57を硬化 (仮硬化)させる。
[0034] 次に、 ΧΥ Θステージ 72, 72のファイバー保持冶具 73, 73力、らリポンファイノく一 60 を取り外すとともに、バキュームチャックによる吸引を止め、メカチャックを解除して YZ ステージ 71から容体 20を取り外す。
次に、吸引孔 23を可撓性接着剤で塞ぐ。
[0035] その後、容体 20及びリボンファイバー 60をオーブンに入れ、加熱処理(例えば空 気雰囲気で 90〜100°C、 1時間置く)を行う。これにより、可撓性接着剤をエージング させると同時に、ストッパー 63を熱収縮させ、リボンファイバー 60に固着させる。 その後、容体 20及びリボンファイバー 60をオーブンより取り出し、冷却する。以上に より、光導波路装置 1が完成する。
[0036] このように、光導波路チップ 50とリボンファイバー 60との接続工程と、ケース 10への
ノ クケージ工程とを連続して行うことで、工程時間の短縮を図ることができ、製造コス 卜を低減すること力 Sでさる。
[0037] 上記工程により組み立てられた光導波路装置 1では、可撓性接着剤 57によりリボン ファイバー 60を容体 20及び蓋体 30に固定するので、光導波路チップ 50及びリボン ファイバー 60と容体 20及び蓋体 30の線膨張率の差による熱応力を可撓性接着剤 5 7により吸収することができ、光ファイバ一素線 62の曲がりや断線を防止することがで きる。
[0038] また、リボンファイバー 60がストッパー 63により容体 20及び蓋体 30に係止されるの で、リボンファイバー 60に引張力が作用した場合でも、光ファイバ一素線 62と光導波 路チップ 50との接合部まで力が伝播せず、耐衝撃性を高めることができる。
[0039] 上記の光導波路装置 1を用いて、 85°C、相対湿度 85%、 2000時間の高温高湿試 験を行ったところ、損失増加が 0. 5dB未満に収束することが検証された。
[0040] なお、上記の光導波路装置 1は、光通信用デバイスのスプリツター、波長合分波器 、スィッチ等に用いることができるが、これに限らず、光ファイバ一を搭載するあらゆる 製品に用いることができる。
Claims
[1] 光導波路(52)が形成された基板(51)と、前記光導波路(52)の両端部に接続さ れる光ファイバ一(60)と、
前記基板(51)を収納するとともに、可撓性部材(57)を介して前記光ファイバ一(6
0)を保持するケース(10)と、を備えることを特徴とする光導波路装置(1)。
[2] 前記光ファイバ一(60)には前記ケース(10)の内壁と係止するストッパー(63)が設 けられることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載の光導波路装置(1)。
[3] 前記ストッパー(63)は前記光ファイバ一(60)が揷通された熱収縮チューブを熱収 縮させてなることを特徴とする請求項 2に記載の光導波路装置(1)。
[4] 前記ケース(10)と前記基板(51)との間には緩衝材 (40)が設けられていることを特 徴とする請求項 1に記載の光導波路装置(1)。
[5] 前記ケース(10)には内部の基板(51)を外部からバキュームチャックにより吸引す るための吸引孔(23)が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載の光導波路 装置(1)
