Definitions
- the present invention relates to an arrangement in connection with a roof for carrying a part of the lower portion of a roofing such as, for instance, clay or concrete roofing tiles, or of sheet-metal having a roofing-tile shape, along the clamping gutter clips of a gutter, having a border-shaped plastic profile, which has a water-drainage part extending in a downward direction.
- a roofing such as, for instance, clay or concrete roofing tiles, or of sheet-metal having a roofing-tile shape
- DE 4006864 Cl shows a plastic construction where a plurality of articulated tongues (38) are arranged to turn in and be coupled together with a foot (16) on a formed border (10) before nailing to the roof.
- the border is formed of a ventilator grill (18) including the turnable support tongues (38) arranged at the bottom and bird-protection fingers (36) extending upward. It cannot be understood how a water-drainage part should be fastened at the bottom of said construction. Hence, in this known construction, there is no water-drainage part that leans downward.
- EP 0952274 Al shows a water-drainage part (7) and having upper supports (11) for roofing tiles (9) . In that connection, no adaptation to the thickness of gutter clips is made.
- DE 19932993 Cl shows an arrangement similar to the one according to EP 0952274 Al and having the same disadvantage.
- EP 0180245 shows a water-drainage part (3) having supports (23) situated on top for roofing tiles (8) .
- Adaptation to gutter clips is solved by simply making an interruption at said gutter clip, thus with a lack of water-drainage part (3) at the area past the same. See particularly Fig. 4.
- said border-shaped plastic profile 9 is placed along the lower edge of the roof above fastened gutter clips. Thanks to the underside of the profile, said supports ll-ll n may carry the plastic profile 9 and wherein, thanks to the supports being evenly distributed along the length extension of the profile, the gutter clips will constantly end up between pair-wise supports and that the downward-leaning portion of the plastic profile forms said water-drainage part. Therefore, the main object of the present invention is primarily to solve, among other things, the above- mentioned problems in an efficient and reliable way by simple and well working means.
- said border-shaped plastic profile has an angled cross-section profile and has, on the underside thereof, a plurality of supports situated at a mutual distance from each other and distributed along the length extension of the plastic profile, that the supports are formed of borders extending transverse to the length extension of the plastic profile and having a triangular shape, and that the supports are evenly distributed along the length extension of the plastic profile, preferably at intervals of 10 cm, the plastic profile being arranged to be fastenable to the lower portion of the roof, with the supports displaced laterally from the fastened gutter clips, for supporting the lower row of roofing tiles at the lower portion of the roof.
- Fig. 1 shows in perspective the invention applied to a roofing tile as seen obliquely from above at the lower edge portion of the roof
- Fig. 2 shows the invention obliquely laterally in an elevated position from above
- Fig. 3 shows a side view of the invention
- Figs. 4-5 show the invention obliquely from below and obliquely from above, respectively,
- Figs. 6-7 show a part included in the invention obliquely from above and obliquely from below, respectively, Fig. 8 shows in enlargement a portion of said part , and
- Fig. 9 shows the invention including an end coupling.
- the principal task of the eaves fitting is to replace the function of the lower elevated batten and provide a space for the gutter clip as well as to provide a tight and reliable transition from the roofing to the gutter.
- the fitting may be integrated with bird strips that are folded forward after mounting, in order to prevent birds from moving in under the roof.
- an arrangement 1 intended to be applied in connection with a roof 2 in order to provide carrying of a part of the lower portion 4 of a roofing 3, such as, for instance, clay or concrete roofing tiles 5, or of sheet-metal having a roofing-tile shape, along 6 the clamping gutter clips 8 of a gutter 7 comprises a border- shaped plastic profile 9.
- said plastic profile has a plurality of supports ll-ll n situated at a mutual distance A from each other and distributed along the length extension L of the plastic profile 9.
- the plastic profile has furthermore a leaning water-drainage part 12, more precisely a part 12 extending in a downward direction.
- Said plastic profile 9 is arranged to be fastenable to the lower portion 13 of the roof 2, with the supports ll-ll a displaced laterally 14, from the fastened gutter clips 8 for forming a support for the lower row of roofing tiles 5 at said lower portion 13 of the roof.
- said plastic profile 9 has an angled cross-section profile with an obtuse angle 15, so that said water-drainage part 12 leans downward at an angle 16 of approx. 60-70° from the underside 17 of the supports.
- Said supports ll-ll n are evenly distributed along the length extension 6 of the plastic profile 9, preferably at intervals of 10 cm if the gutter clips 8 are distributed at a centre distance B of 60 cm, and are formed of borders extending transverse to the length extension of the profile and having a triangular shape.
- an open portion 25 is formed, which, when the plastic profile 9 is fastened to the roof by means of nails 26 or screws, allows the planar fastening portion 27 of the gutter clips 8 to reach under the profile 9. Thanks to the distribution of the supports ll-ll n along the length L of the profile, said clip fastening portions are allowed to be received without obstruction from any supports ll-ll n .
- a comb-like upright part 19 is fastened and arranged to act as an obstacle that prevents birds 40 and larger insects, squirrels, etc., from coming in under the roofing 3, and build nests or holes in the space thereat.
- Said bird stop 19 is formed of a plurality of resilient plastic fingers 20 placed closely together and, in an unloaded position without the load from any roofing tile 5, etc., arranged to extend substantially 70° in a direction up from the upper part 18 of the plastic profile.
- Said plastic profile 9 and preferably also the bird-stop part 19 having the upright fingers 20 are formed of polyethylene or of another similar plastic having similar properties as this.
- Fig. 9 there is shown an end coupling 30 for the profile 9, and by means of which, profiles are coupled together into desired lengths by being inserted into each other, short side against short side.
- the comb-like part 19 is shown folded-out in Fig. 9 and can be turned around a plastic hinge 31 along the upper edge area of the profile.
- a smooth part 3OA of the opposite end of the profile is coupled pair- wise together with such an end coupling 30 of a following profile 9.
- the plastic profiles 9 are manufactured from a durable plastic material of high quality preferably by injection moulding and are intended to replace the previously used the last lower batten upon framing at a distance from the batten 28 situated above that the upper part of the tile rests against and that the upper shoulder 29 of the tile 5 leans against and retains the tile 5 by. Thereby, a tight and neat transition is provided from the tile 5 to the gutter 7, with the integrated drainage part 12. Furthermore, it is possible to use all gutter clips existing on the market without needing to work with countersinking grooves for the same in the roof or carrying out another similar arrangement for the fastening of the same.
- a common board 32 may now be nailed on the counter batten 33 at the lower ends thereof and to which the gutter clips 8 are fastened by means of, e.g., nails 34 or screws on the topside 32A of the board.
- Said border 9 is simple to mount and dismount, respectively, as well as to cut off as required, and is easy to work with without having to resort to troublesome measuring and carpentering in the eaves, as well as it is extraordinarily time-saving.
- the total weight of the plastic profiles for a house of normal size becomes only approx. 10-20 kg.
- the invention allows to obtain an all-in one containing eaves plate, bird strips and elevated batten. It gives easily room for the gutter clips without any milling operation or the like for the same, and it provides a reliable and liquidtight transition from the roofing to the gutter, and is very time-saving to mount.
- the board 32 may possibly be mounted further down in order to, if possible, be adapted to integer rows of tiles.
- a joist of the same thickness as the bearing battens is mounted .
- the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and shown in the accompanying drawings. Modifications are feasible, particularly as for the nature of the different parts, or by using an equivalent technique, without departing from the protection area of the invention, such as it is defined in the claims.
- the profiles may be produced from another material than plastic, such as, for instance, metal, e.g., sheet-metal, copper, aluminium or consist of a combination of different materials.
