Definitions

  • the present invention relates to improvements for a boiler of a coffee machine, and more particularly relates to a device able to improve efficiency of boiler of the coffee machine disclosed in EP 1 321 081 B1 , issued on June 29 th , 2005.
  • the coffee machine includes an upper body or boiler, adapted to generate hot water pressurized, and at least a lower element for supporting and hooking a housing of filter-holder container.
  • the upper body and the filter-holder container are separate by clamping means connected to a valve device, clamped and floating together with a gasket, for pressurized water flow through the filter supported by said filter-holder container.
  • Said clamping means during pressure increase inside the upper body, exerts pressure against said filter supported by the filter-holder container, keeping it in place and sealing, and said valve device sends pressurized water to said filter while, during pressure decrease inside the upper body, said device blocks water flow towards said filter and said clamping means releases said filter-holder container, allowing its removal from the supporting element.

  • the known coffee machine of prior art hitherto described once preparation of coffee infusion has been done, before removing the filter-holder container, needs to wait for device (pump) of pressurized water supply to stop supplying water to the filter-holder container and consequently for boiler pressure to decrease in order to cause the resilient gasket to return to the release configuration.
  • a water condensate inevitably is formed inside the boiler, which condensate has to be sent back to water storing reservoir through a suitable recirculation conduit, since it cannot be immediately reused for the next coffee.
  • the present invention aims therefore to make the operation of filling the boiler of a coffee machine, provided with resilient gasket system, faster every time preparation of a coffee infusion has been done, thus reducing the waiting time for preparation of the next coffee. This is achieved thanks to a particular device inserted inside the boiler, which allows to maintain at least a certain amount of hot and pressurized water inside the boiler at the end of each coffee preparation, assuring optimal thermal conditions for preparing further coffees.

  • the re-start of the resistance 5 to heat water in the chamber 23 for the next coffee infusion indeed, could cause the existing pressure level in chamber 23 to increase thus moving the supply valve 13 and passing some drops of water throughout the exit conduit 17. Therefore, in order to avoid this phenomenon an outlet valve 50 is included in the present invention, setting its release pressure at a lower (about half) level than the set pressure level of the supply valve 13. In this manner said drops of water move from chamber 23, through the channel 30 and the solenoid valve in conduit 25, until they reaches the water reservoir.
  • An independent device improving the coffee "look” is also provided for the above described invention.
  • Said independent device is, indeed, able to produce a suitable amount of coffee cream during infusion. It is mounted on the coffee machine beneath the filter-holder container (either for capsules, or single paper dose, or coffee powder) and it preferably comprises three parts:
  • a supporting member 63 for a spring 65 is provided.
  • Said upper part 61 is attached to the coffee machine by fastening means such as threaded surface or bayonet seal, in a sealed manner assured by a suitable shape and coupling pressure exerted by previously disclosed gaskets 7 and 9.
  • the slot element 62 fixed to the upper part 61 , accommodates a sealing rubber head. It is also provided with a set of pre-calibrated holes 64 adapted to intake ambient air due to the Venturi effect during beverage flow therethrough, thus emulsifying coffee infusion. Said Venturi effect is generated by flow area reduction of the supporting member 63 containing said spring 65, which pushes the sealing rubber head at a pre-calibrated pressure. This pressure level is, of course, smaller than pressure level at the end of the exit conduit 17 but enough high to create the desired Venturi effect.
