Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a film-type audio-speaker and, more particularly, to a film-type audio-speaker wherein only part of a vibrating surface is formed of a piezoelectric film, whereby manufacturing costs of the film-type audio-speaker can be reduced and the film-type audio-speaker can be appropriately used to constitute a banner, display cover, or similar product at the lowest price.
  • an audio equipment speaker takes the form of a cone-shaped speaker.
  • the cone-shaped speaker comprises a cone containing a vibrating plate, and an enclosure forming a resonance chamber.
  • This type of conventional audio- speaker however, has a problem of being both bulky and heavy. Therefore, recently, a thin and light film-type audio-speaker has been developed and introduced.
  • the film-type audio- speaker comprises a piezoelectric film, which is formed by applying plasma to a poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) film or other resin film to result in a hydrophilic property. A metal or other electrically conductive material is coated over the piezoelectric film.
  • PVDF poly vinylidene fluoride
  • the piezoelectric film vibrates and generates sound.
  • certain terminals must be attached to the piezoelectric film in order to apply the audio signal to the film-type audio-speaker.
  • an amplifier for amplifying a sound signal and a matching transformer may be integrated into the piezoelectric film. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
  • the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a film-type audio-speaker wherein only a certain limited part thereof is formed of a piezoelectric film, but is still capable of inducing vibration of sound throughout the entire surface thereof, whereby manufacturing costs of the film-type audio-speaker can be reduced while maintaining substantial sound volume.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a film- type audio- speaker wherein the piezoelectric film is integrated into a vibrating sheet of which the material is suitable for pictures, figures, or articles of similar nature to be printed onto such a vibrating sheet, so that the film-type audio-speaker can be appropriately used to create various shapes of banners or display covers at the lowest possible price.
  • a film-type audio-speaker comprising one or more piezoelectric films obtained via a surface treatment process, a number of electrically conductive layers each can be formed by the coating of an electrically conductive polymer or metal layer coated onto either surface of the respective piezoelectric films, and one or more electric terminals connected to the electrically conductive layers while being connected to external devices or internal elements for use in the driving of the audio-speaker, wherein: more than one piezoelectric film are integrated into a vibrating sheet by the process of attachment or coating, which vibrating sheet has no electrically conductive layer coated thereto, and the vibrating sheet is formed of either a synthetic resin film, a paper sheet, or a vibrating plate, which is suitable to be printed with pictures, figures, or ornamental letters, or a vibrating sheet being made of a transparent material which can allow images on the underside thereof to be clearly visible through such a vibrating sheet.
  • the piezoelectric films are integrally attached to or coated onto at least two different locations of the vibrating sheet.
  • the vibrating sheet is formed of a vibrating plate and the piezoelectric films are in contact with the vibrating sheet at a plurality of connecting locations by interposing contact strips.
  • the present invention provides a film-type audio-speaker having the following advantages.
  • a piezoelectric film which serves as an oscillation film and has an electrically conductive layer coated thereto, is integrated into or coated onto a vibrating sheet which is made of an ordinary film, paper sheet, or thin vibrating plate and has no electrically conductive layer.
  • This configuration has the effect of reducing the manufacturing costs of the film-type audio- speakers.
  • the vibrating sheet of the present invention is made of a material having a higher transparency than the piezoelectric film. This allows certain pictures, figures, ornamental letters, or other advertising patterns to be vividly and clearly printed on the vibrating sheet.
  • the film-type audio-speaker of the present invention can be effectively used to constitute a banner, placard, or articles of a similar nature.
  • the film-type audio-speaker of the present invention can be effectively used to constitute a picture frame surface cover, clock surface cover, flat panel display cover, or articles of a similar nature because the transparent vibrating sheet allows images on the underside thereof to be clearly visible therethrough. This provides the film-type audio-speaker with improved product quality.
  • the film-type audio-speaker of the present invention can generate stereo sound and allow the sound volume to be controlled by virtue of the vibrations resulting from the different oscillation of the vibrating films.
  • FIGs. 1 and 2 are a plan view and a front cross-sectional view illustrating a film-type audio-speaker in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIGs. 3 and 4 are a plan view and a front cross-sectional view illustrating a film-type audio-speaker in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
  • the film-type audio-speaker of the present embodiment comprises a plurality of piezoelectric films 2, and electrically conductive layers 4.
  • Each piezoelectric film 2 is obtained by reforming a film via a plasma surface treatment process to result in hydrophilic surfaces.
  • the electrically conductive layers 4 are made of electrically conductive polymer or metal layers and each is coated to either surface of the piezoelectric film 2.
  • the electrically conductive layers 4 are provided with terminals 6 for use in the connection with external devices for the driving of the audio- speaker. Admittedly, the terminals 6 may be connected to a certain internal element for the driving of the audio- speaker, such as an amplifier, matching transformer, audio signal generator, etc., forming an integral audio system.
  • the piezoelectric film 2 is integrated into a vibrating sheet
  • the vibrating sheet 10 is designed to vibrate while transmitting the vibration caused by the piezoelectric film 2, through the vibrating sheet 10.
  • the vibrating sheet 10 is most preferably made of a synthetic resin film, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
  • a paper sheet or other relatively thin vibrating plate may be utilized to form the vibrating sheet 10 so long as it can vibrate by transmitting the vibration caused by the piezoelectric film 2.
  • one method of integrating the piezoelectric film 2 into the vibrating sheet 10 is to closely attach the piezoelectric film 2 onto the vibrating sheet 10. Another connecting method is to closely attach the piezoelectric film 2 to the vibrating sheet 10 using an adhesive tape, etc.
  • the vibrating sheet 10 is made of a general film, which is not subjected to a surface treatment process or an electrically conductive layer coating process for achieving a hydrophilic property. Using the vibrating sheet 10 as stated above has the effect of reducing manufacturing costs of a film-type audio-speaker of a large surface area.
  • pictures, figures, ornamental letters, or articles of a similar nature may be printed on the vibrating sheet 10.
  • the film- type audio-speaker may be used to constitute a banner, placard, or other advertising display, enabling the provision of inexpensive advertising media having the function of an audio- speaker.
  • the reason why the pictures, figures, ornamental letters, or articles of a similar nature can be printed on the vibrating sheet 10 is that the vibrating sheet 10 provides a more vivid and smoother printing surface as compared to the piezoelectric film 2 which has a lower transparency due to the electrically conductive layers 4 coated thereon.
  • the vibrating sheet 10 simply takes the form of a transparent film having no pictures, figures, ornamental letters, or articles of a similar nature printed thereon, images on the underside thereof can be clearly visible through the transparent film.
  • the film-type audio-speaker is appropriately used to constitute a picture frame surface cover, clock surface cover, flat panel display cover, etc., so as to provide these articles with a sound generating function.
  • the plurality of piezoelectric films 2 is arranged at at least two different locations of the vibrating sheet 10. This allows the film-type audio-speaker to generate stereo sound or to control the sound volume by virtue of the vibrations resulting from the different oscillation of the vibrating films.
  • FIGs. 3 and 4 illustrate a film-type audio-speaker in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention.
  • the plurality of piezoelectric films 2 is bolted onto the vibrating sheet 10 at a plurality of connecting locations 14 by interposing strips 12, forming a point connection between the piezoelectric film 2 and the vibrating sheet 10.
  • the strips 12 are designed to come into close contact with both the piezoelectric film 2 and the vibrating sheet 10.
  • the present embodiment provides a connecting method suitable for a vibrating sheet 10 that is made of a relatively thick vibrating plate.
  • both the piezoelectric film 2 and the vibrating sheet 10 are able to come into close contact with each other via the strips 12. This ensures effective transmission of vibration from the piezoelectric films 2 to the vibrating sheet 10, thereby allowing the vibrating sheet 10 to effectively generate sound while vibrating.
