When sticking skins there is a risk that the adhesive effect decreases over time, due to the ingress of snow and moisture between tread and skin, with snow accumulates especially at the front end of the coat. This accumulation of snow increases with each sliding step with the consequence that, correspondingly, there is an increasing risk of forcing snow into the adhesive area between the tread and the skin. In order to avoid this, it is proposed in WO 2004/064949 A1 to assign to the front end of the climbing skin a recess in the running surface of the ski, into which the front end of the climbing skin protrudes.
