Definitions
- the present invention relates to a self-locking connection device according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
- the preferred fields of application for this type of device are jewelery and watchmaking.
- the fundamental problem is the foolproof security of the link and the reliability of the latter, allied, firstly, to a simple, fast and comfortable handling of the device, then to a rational and subtle construction of it allowing a minimum cost manufacturing and true versatility, both in its applications and in its mode of use, and finally, more particularly when it is intended to be used in jewelry or watchmaking, a sober aesthetic, discreet and attractive, involving a harmonious shape and minimal footprint.
- the spring ring consisting of a hollow ring, cut on a segment, and a rod that can be operated to open or close this segment, including it presents the same curvature, stem subjected to the action of a spring sheltered in the ring.
- the latter is attached to one end of a collar. It is possible to slip the loop of a chain link or another ring secured to the second end of the collar through the open segment, the rod closing the ring being moved against the action of the spring. The rod is then released, which closes the ring. It is reproached to this system to be unsightly, because inappropriate to the shape of the collar, important by its dimensions and heavy. In addition, it often requires additional security.
- FR-A-2 694 485 discloses a locking device comprising a body with two pivoting elements and a male end of a shape corresponding to that of a housing of the body.
- a key can pivot and be placed in a receptacle of the mouthpiece.
- a cover ensures closure by preventing accidental removal of the key.
- FR-A-2'531'322 discloses a necklace chain clasp having two pieces sliding one inside the other, to .
- This clasp further comprises a locking tooth, integral with the slide, which is engaged in an opening of the slide in the locking position.
- FR-A-2 '611' 452 discloses a clasp consisting of a male part and a female part cooperating with each other by implementing a latching function.
- This clasp provides an improvement in that it seems to provide a satisfactory closure security and allow a maneuver blindly fairly easy.
- the opening operation is very inconvenient, the realization, that is to say the manufacture of this clasp is delicate and expensive, and aesthetics other than happy.
- the present invention aims to provide a solution not partial to the problem described in the introduction, but on the contrary global, in that it meets each of the branches of this problem.
- the closure for example of a jewel such as necklace
- the closure is safe and reliable. Opening and closing are done conveniently, simply and quickly.
- the device is aesthetically flawless, thanks to its general shape can be advantageously cylindrical or prismatic, and its size is minimal.
- the cost of manufacturing the constituent parts is, because of the simple forms thereof, reduced to a minimum.
- the device according to the invention can be used - to name just a few examples from multitude of others - to attach a USB stick, mobile phone, pen, key ring, decorative element, pet leash to a pet collar or similar, a hook at the end of thread of a fishing rod, this each time according to adapted dimensions, ranging from the smallest to the largest.
- the device, or more precisely an element thereof can be integrated into the object to be connected itself or used to fix interchangeable elements of the object, for example a pendant.
- FIG. 1 is an axial section of the device in the assembled state, that is to say closed, according to a first embodiment, - Q -
- the female part 2, axis 2A, is a cap, including its upper face 2B may be provided with attachment points or eyelets.
- An inner recess results from a cylindrical bore 6 whose diameter is defined so as to be able to constitute a guide for the male part 3 (see below), this bore 6 opening on a cylindrical bore 7, of diameter greater than the diameter of the bore 6, via a frustoconical ramp 8 bis.
- the lower side of the bore 6 opens on the outside via a ramp 8, similar to the ramp 8 bis, the role of which we will return.
- the male part 3, axis 3A is a pliers or sleeve of inner bore 3B which extends from one side and which opens in conical form 12 (the upper side).
- This clamp comprises a lower portion 9 (whose lower radial face bears the reference 3C) which extends from an upper portion 10 forming a shoulder 9A.
- This upper part comprises at least two longitudinal slots 1OC (see also Figure 2) stopping approximately at the height of said shoulder 9A.
- the planes of symmetry (not shown) of each of the slots contain the axis 3A, so as to form at least two fingers, which are elastically deformable and dimensioned accordingly.
- the number of slots, and therefore of fingers is advantageously four.
- this number may be greater, for example equal to six, as shown in Figure 2 (we will adopt the unique reference 10 to designate all the tubular portion provided with slots or one or other of the fingers).
- the ends of the fingers 10 open to each form a corona portion 10A to - 7 -
- outer tapered surfaces 11 and inner 12 (conical opening form mentioned above), and an upper ring 10B (the reference 10A can also designate the entire corolla).
- the core 1 extends into the male part 3 and emerges from it, at its upper part, essentially by its base 5B and, at its lower part, by a portion (not referenced) of the rod 4, being observed that according to alternative embodiments, said rod 4 may be dimensioned so that its lower face 4A is flush or approximately flush with the bottom surface 3C of the part 3, or even withdrawn from the latter.
- the frustoconical portion 5A of the head 5 is, in part, facing the frustoconical surface 12 of the corolla 10A, while the frustoconical surface 11 of this corolla is, in part, facing the ramp 8bis of the female part 2 .
- the clasp in the assembled state, thus closed, as shown in FIG. 1 we can now describe its operation, by first observing that the female part 2 is integral with, for example, one of ends of a collar, while the other end of the collar is integral with the rod 4 of the core 1, which can slide in the female part 2 in the limit of a free field that can be arranged, that is, that is to say a space between the upper face (not referenced) of the head 5 and the surface (not referenced) of the female part 2 facing said head.
- the opening is caused by an axial traction F 3 (O) exerted on the male part 3, while the female part 2 is held in place, so subject concomitantly to a contrary reaction force F 2 (O).
- F 3 axial traction
- F 2 contrary reaction force
- a first step step not shown graphically
- the corolla 10A is clamped between the head 5 of the core 1 and the ramp 8bis of the female part 2, the frustoconical surface 5A bearing against the frustoconical surface 12 and the surface frustoconical 11 bearing against the ramp 8a.
- the fingers 10 bend elastically under the effect of the radial components of the aforementioned forces, the face 11 sliding on the ramp 8 bis.
- the face or the edge (not referenced) most peripherally of the corolla 1OA slides along the bore 6 while being guided by it, while the edge (not referenced) formed between the bore 3B and the frustoconical face 12 of the corolla 10A is uniformly close to the casing of the rod 4 (position shown in Figure 3) or may even come slightly against it.
- the closure (intended to connect, according to the example, the two ends of the collar) is obtained by snapping in performing the reverse operations of those made for the opening and which has just been described, an axial pressure force F 3 (C) being exerted on the male part 3, provided with the core 1, while the female part 2 is retained, thus subjected concomitantly to a reverse reaction force F 2 (C) (see FIG 3).
- F 3 axial pressure force
- F 2 reverse reaction force
- FIG. 6 is an axial section of the device in the closed state, similar to FIG. 1, but according to a second embodiment of general reference 100, with axis 100A.
- This device comprises an auxiliary element or core 50, axis 5OA, a female part 60, axis 6OA and a male part 70, axis 70A.
- the axes of this element and of these parts are located on the same support, coinciding with the axis 100A of the device.
- the core 50 consists of a cylindrical rod 51 having a lower surface 52 and, opposite, a head 53 formed of a frustoconical portion 54 whose large diameter is enhanced by a base dimensioned so as to provide a range 56 (on the function of which we will return) with the frustoconical face 54, while the end portion 57 is curved.
- the female part 60 is a preferably cylindrical cap to be connected, for example, to an end of a necklace or a pendant.
- An inner recess results from a cylindrical bore 61 whose diameter is defined so as to be able to constitute a guide for the male part 70 (see below), this bore 61 opening on a cylindrical bore 62, of diameter greater than the diameter of the Bore 61, via a frustoconical ramp 63.
- the lower side of the bore 61 opens on the outside via a ramp 64, similar to the ramp 63.
- the male part 70 is in the form of a gripper or sleeve in two parts 71, 72 with an inner bore 73 extending from one side to the other and opening to the outside. - 11 -
- the upper portion 72 extends the lower portion 71 forming with the latter a shoulder 78.
- the upper part of the clamp comprises at least two longitudinal slots (not referenced here) stopping, according to the example, at the height of said shoulder 78.
- the planes of symmetry (not shown) of each of the slots contain the axis 70A, so as to form at least two fingers, which are dimensioned so that they are elastically deformable.
- the number of slots, and therefore of fingers is four (and here we will adopt the same reference 72 to designate the fingers).
- the ends of the fingers 72 open to form a corolla 74, frustoconical inner 76 and outer 77 surfaces, and an upper ring 75.
- the core 50 extends into the male piece 70 and emerges from it, at its upper part, by its base 55, 57.
- the lower face 52 of the rod 51 is here flush with the lower surface 81 of the piece male 70.
- the slopes of frustoconical portions 76 and 77 of the corolla 74, as well as those of frustoconical portions 54 (head) and 63 (ramp) are not uniform.
- the scope 56 of the head 53 which can come against the crown 75 of the corolla 74, has the effect of preventing the opening of the fingers 72 of the male part 70 when the clasp is open. Such opening could occur if an inadvertent pull was exerted on the strand of the collar (a sufficient traction will be weaker as the collar will be heavy), driving the head - in the absence of this security that constitutes the said reach 56 - to the inside of the fingers between which she would then remain gripped.
- This security also makes it possible to provide more flexible fingers, thus improving the more convenient use, without sacrificing closure security.
- This bearing 56 also facilitates the introduction of the male part 70 in the female part 60, because limits the spacing of the clamp, that is to say the fingers
- the rounded shape of the head 53 facilitates its introduction into the female part 60.
- the difference in opening angles of the frustoconical portions 77 of the fingers 72 and the ramp 63 facilitates the narrowing of the fingers 72 during the opening.
- the shoulders 65; 79 prevent any lateral twists of the male and female parts and, therefore, any deformation and degradation of the fingers 10; 72 may occur as a result.
- the milling 80 at the entrance of the bore 73 provides a larger space for the connection, in this area, of a bracelet strand, collar or other object to the rod 51.
- FIGs 7A and 7B show the possibility of using the clasps to attach jewelry or other interchangeable objects to a chain.
- a cross 40 has been chosen in this example because it illustrates an original way of attaching a conventional object to a chain or wire.
- the female parts 2; 60 of two clasps were crimped into a hole drilled in each of the two horizontal arms 41, 42 of the cross.
- Each of the nuclei 1; 50 is attached to one of the two ends of a wire 13 or a chain.
- the female element 2; 60 of a single clasp is set in the upper part 46 of the vertical branch of a cross 45.
- the rod 4; 51 of the nucleus 1; 50 is connected to the ends of two strands 21, 22, for example by crimping in an orifice 20, the other ends of these strands being connected to a clasp according to one or other of the possible embodiments, for example a clasp 100. If the user wants to change the jewel, all he has to do is open the clasp (s) and fix it - 14 -
- Figure 8A shows the application of a clasp to a wire, which is sometimes used to make a collar.
- a wire 13 (adopting the same reference as that designating the wire in Figure 7A), at one end of which is crimped a stop device 14, is mounted in the female part 2; 60 provided with a passage (not referenced).
- This device 14 can be attached to the latter.
- the other end of the wire is connected to the core rod 1/50, for example by crimping in an orifice 15 which has been made in the latter.
- This wire may be nylon, steel or other material sufficiently strong for this function.
- a cable can also be used.
- the connection between the wire and the core rod can be made with or without an intermediate part, for example by crimping, driving, gluing, welding or screwing.
- Figure 8B shows the application of the clasp to a chain.
- Conventional rings 16 and 17 are respectively welded to the female part 2; 60 and the rod 1; 50.
- the outer general shape of the clasp is advantageously cylindrical, it being understood that any other shape is conceivable, such as prismatic.
- the clasp can be made of any suitable material, such as gold, platinum, palladium, silver, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, observation being made that for the manufacture of - 15 -
- fingers 10; 72 the choice should be on a material with good elasticity qualities.
