Definitions

  • the present invention relates to polishing apparatus and polishing picks employed for such apparatus, principally for polishing concrete surfaces such as floors . It will be convenient to describe the present invention as it applies to concrete polishing but it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art of the present invention that the invention is not limited to concrete polishing and could, for example, polishing surfaces other than concrete, such as ceramic, clay, stone, terrazzo and asphalt .
  • Polished concrete can be suitable for factory and warehouse floors, because it is hard wearing, easy to clean, resistant to oils and acids and the like and can be readily painted or marked as may be required in such commercial premises .

  • One of the difficulties with this type of prior art polishing pick is that the shank is driven into the bore using a mallet, hammer or hydraulic piston, and the act of driving one of the picks in a bore can cause one or more of the other polishing picks already fitted to become loose .
