Abstract

Disclosed is a closing device comprising a clamping mechanism (1, 2, 21, 22) which can be moved between an open position and a closed position and is provided in the form of two hingedly joined clamping legs (1, 2). Said clamping mechanism can be placed over a terminal section of the bag that is to be closed in the open position while surrounding and clamping said terminal section in a collar-shaped manner in the closed position. Furthermore, a locking mechanism (4, 5, 14, 15, 33) is provided for locking the clamping mechanism in the closed position. The inventive device further comprises a rigid handle (9, 12, 16, 32) which is joined to one of the clamping legs in a rigid or articulated manner via a hinge.

Sealing device for a sack

The invention relates to a closure device for a sack or a sack-like container in any shape and size or of any material. Such sacks can be made, for example, of paper, preferably sack paper, kraft paper or scrap paper, of plastic film or any fabric; the only essential thing is the quality of a thin, flexible material that can be deformed or folded as desired.

Such bags are used, for example, for the storage and transport of granular or powdery material, but in some circumstances also of pasty or more or less liquid substances. Examples are mainly building materials, such as cement,

Grout, tile adhesive and the like, but also foodstuffs such as flour, sugar, rice, etc., without the application being restricted to these areas. After filling, bags are usually closed mechanically, depending on the material, for example, sewn, glued or welded. However, once the sack has been opened and only partially emptied, the original closure cannot be restored. The sack is then difficult to handle or transport, and its unprotected contents can easily spill or become unusable, for example, depending on the material, drying out or undesirably drawing moisture.

According to the preamble of claim 1, the invention relates to a closure device for a sack with a clamping device which can be adjusted between an open position and a closed position, which can be placed in the open position over an open end section of the sack and in the closed position is able to enclose and clamp this end section in the form of a collar, and with a locking device for locking the clamping device in its closed position, the clamping device having two elongated rigid clamping legs which are connected to one another in such an articulated manner that in the open position they accommodate the open end section of the bag between them are able to clamp it in the closed position with the formation of a clamping gap between them,

Such a closure device is known from US60 58 572 A. The two clamping legs are connected there on one side via a film hinge and can be locked at the opposite ends using a locking hook. In a similar device known from WO 02/076 836 A2, a carrying strap is additionally provided which can be buttoned into elongated holes of one of the clamping legs at its ends by means of small knobs. However, such a wrist strap should not be cheap for heavy sacks.

The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide an improved closing device for sacks or sack-like containers, with which these can be closed in a simple manner without mechanical help. In particular, this device should make it possible to open an open sack or sack-like container, preferably made of sack paper, Kraft paper or parchment paper, to be closed again as often as required and not only to protect the contents, but also to make handling and carrying the sack or container easier.

According to the invention, in order to achieve this goal, the closure device of the type mentioned above is characterized in that a rigid carrying handle is connected rigidly or articulated via a hinge to a clamping leg serving as a carrying leg, and the carrying leg has a deflecting panel that covers the clamping gap on one side in the closed position.

With the closure device according to the invention, it is possible for the consumer, for example on a construction site, in a commercial enterprise or in the household, to reclose an opened sack at any time and to store it safely for later use or to transport it. In addition, the device can also be used as an original closure for fully filled sacks. Plastic is preferably used as the material for the clamping legs, but metals or other stable materials can also be used.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two elongated clamping legs are each connected at one end via a hinge and on their respective other movable ends can be connected via the locking device to form the clamping gap. This locking device can, for example, have a preferably resilient hook which is arranged on a first of the two clamping legs and can be latched into a recess or behind a latching web on the second clamping leg.

In another advantageous embodiment, the two clamping limbs can be connected to one another at their two ends and form a clamping gap between them, at least one of the clamping limbs having an eccentric clamping strip which extends out of the clamping gap into an opening position and in about an axis running parallel to the clamping gap the clamping gap is pivotable into a closed position.

In the closure device according to the invention, the handle is rigidly or movably attached to one of the clamping legs; as a result, this is automatically raised as a carrying leg when in use by the tensile force exerted when carrying, the clamped-in sack section with the clamping gap being tilted approximately horizontally.

The free end of the sack is bent downwards by the deflection lip arranged on one long side of this carrying leg and covering the clamping gap - with a corresponding arrangement on the end of the sack. This makes the handle easier to handle and the pinched bag section is additionally fixed. To fix the closed bag, depending on its size and weight, it can also be useful if the clamping legs engage in the area of the clamping gap with tooth-like or nub-like projections and corresponding recesses or with longitudinal corrugations, which increases the clamping effect. On the other hand, however, the effective end edges of the clamping limbs in the clamping gap should not be too sharp-edged to avoid shearing off of the sack material during the load. These edges can, for example, be rounded and / or be provided with damping lips made of elastic material, such as foam rubber or the like. A flat coating with damping material in the area of the clamping gap is also possible. The invention is explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawing. The closure device according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 has a clamping device in the form of two elongated clamping legs 1 and 2, which are pivotally connected at one end by means of a hinge 3 only indicated and form a clamping gap 11 between them. At its free or movable end, the clamping leg 1 has a spring hook 4, which engages in the closed position according to FIG. 2 or 6A on a latching web 5 of the clamping leg 2 and thus forms a locking device. As shown in FIG. 6B, a resiliently pretensioned latching web 5 ′ can also be provided and can be pulled back, for example, by means of a slider 6, which is indicated in order to release the locking. In this case, the hook 4 'itself does not have to be elastic.

The two clamping legs 1 and 2 are each covered on their inner sides with a damping layer 7 made of elastic material, such as foam rubber or the like, in order to prevent damage, particularly in the case of bags made of non-tear-resistant material. Instead of these layers, it would also be conceivable to provide only the edges with a rubber damping lip. Is on one long side of the clamping leg 1 in addition, a deflector 8 is formed for the end of the sack protruding when a sack is closed. Furthermore, a handle 9 is arranged on the outside of the clamping leg 1, which, according to the illustration, can be integrally formed on the clamping leg, for example from plastic, or can also be connected to it later, in a releasable or non-releasable manner, rigidly or movably.

FIGS. 3 and 4 show the use of the closure device according to the invention. A bag 10 is placed with its open end section between the two clamping legs 1 and 2, these are folded into the closed position and locked. The protruding end of the bag 10a is pressed down by the deflector 8, so that it does not interfere with carrying. Therefore, when putting on the clamping legs 1 and 2, make sure that the deflector panel points towards the end of the bag; but it would also be possible to provide such a deflector on both longitudinal sides of the clamping leg 1.

FIGS. 7 to 9 show a slight modification of the previously described embodiment. The clamping legs 1 and 2 are designed similarly and articulated together as there. Only the carrying handle is not rigidly connected to the clamping leg 1; in this case, a carrying handle 12 is provided which is pivotably mounted on the longitudinal side of the clamping leg 1 by means of schematically shown hinges 13. After the two clamping legs 1 and 2 have been closed over a bag end (not shown), the handle 12 is pivoted over the clamping gap 11 and locked with locking lugs 14 in locking notches 15, which in this case form the locking device. The end of the bag is automatically folded to the side and down with the handle.

FIGS. 10 and 11 show further modifications to the design and fastening of carrying handles on a clamping leg 1 of the first exemplary embodiment. A removable handle 16 is shown, which can be snapped into corresponding bearing bores 18 of a holding web or two holding webs 19 by means of outward-pointing (FIG. 7) or inward-pointing (FIG. 8). For this purpose, the bearing bolts 17 can be resiliently biased in the axial direction. It is also conceivable that the handle 16 is elastically deformable in itself in order to enable the bearing elements to snap into place. Removable handles can, for example, facilitate the storage of bags which are provided with a closure device according to the invention. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, it is assumed in a simplified manner that after the closing device has been closed, the section of the open end of the bag clamped between the two clamping legs 1 and 2 is placed approximately in a horizontal plane, the handle 9 rigidly connected to the upper clamping leg being oriented vertically is at the top. In practice, however, this is not exactly the case because the heavy sack 10 pulls the closure device on one side of the clamping gap 11 downward more than the short, empty end 10a on the other side.
