Definitions
- the present invention concerns a double-vat refrigerated display case, which is used in the field of commercial cooling systems to display and preserve refrigerated foodstuff in retail premises such as supermarkets or shops in general, bars, ice-cream shops, pastry shops, restaurants or the like.
- the refrigerated display case according to the invention incorporates in a single structure the logic of refrigerated vats or "islands" having a substantially horizontal extension with that of wall display cases having a substantially vertical extension.
- a second classification used is based on the difference in preservation temperature guaranteed by the display case: there is the distinction between TN display cases (normal or positive temperature), for meat, dairy products, fruit or vegetables, and TB display cases (low or negative temperature) for ice-creams, frozen goods or the like.
- TN display cases normal or positive temperature
- TB display cases low or negative temperature
- TN islands or vats
- TB islands or vats
- wall-TN wall-TB.
- the refrigeration technique dominating among the manufacturers of the field imposes precise restrictions regarding the geometrical design of these display cases, the preservation temperatures being not guaranteed if these restrictions are not met.
- the wall-TB the necessity is known to close the frontal access to the products with glass doors, from which the name "TB-cupboards" for this type of display case derives.
- the object of the present invention is to overcome the shortcomings of the state of the art by realizing a refrigerated display case for foodstuff, particularly but not only for ice creams and frozen products, of the integrated type capable to combine the above-mentioned requirements and advantages, until now prerogative either of the display cases of horizontal design or of those of vertical open design.
- the present invention is set forth and characterized in the main claim. Other novel features of the invention are described in the dependent claims.
- the display case according to the invention substantially maintains the classical arrangement of a commercial refrigerated counter, based on modules of identical cross section and possibly different lengths, that can possibly be combined in order to obtain the size and linear configuration requested by the layout of the shop.
- the display case consists of:
- - a lower supporting frame having a substantially horizontal design, acting as a base and possible point of fixation for the front plinth;
- - a first vat supported by the supporting frame, similar in morphology to that used in a TB island but with the back wall significantly higher with respect to the front;
- the two vats are complete with sheets and typical components of a TB island: for example, but not only, base plates, delivery and suction conveyors, glass deflector, frontal heat-insulating glass, lamellar or honeycomb air delivery, suction grid.
- the internal ventilated cooling system is common to and shared by the two refrigerated vats and comprises a single cooling unit positioned at the bottom of the lower vat. Adequate interspaces for the passage of refrigerated air are formed between the supporting frame, the walls of the vats, the components and the internal transparent elements.
- the refrigerated air is forced into said interspaces so as to create, in each of the vats, substantially horizontal thin air flows that in every aspect are similar, as to thermal, geometric and dynamic parameters, to those normally used in TB islands, known as the most efficient ones for the refrigeration at low temperatures and especially the most adequate in the case of open counters.
- the circulation of the refrigerated air is shared between the two vats and is assured by at least one main ventilation system, which is associated to the cooling unit and positioned therewith on the bottom of the lower vat, and by a secondary ventilation system advantageously arranged at the base of the upper vat.
- a system for the recirculation of the air coming from the upper vat and directed to the delivery of the lower vat are provided.
- FIG. 2 is a lateral sectional view of the refrigerated display case of fig. 1.
- DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION With reference to the attached figures, reference 10 denotes a refrigerated display case according to the invention, used for the preservation and display of foodstuff, particularly in supermarkets and retail shops in general.
- the display case 10 comprises a first foamed, lower vat 11a, substantially similar in morphology to the usual TB islands, except for the much higher back wall, and a second foamed, upper vat l ib, without the back wall and positioned above the first lower vat 11a.
- the first foamed vat 11a is supported by a supporting frame 38, resting on the floor through feet 20, preferably of a type adjustable in height; on the front side of said frame a plinth 33 is fixed for aesthetical finishing.
- a plinth 33 is fixed for aesthetical finishing.
- the two foamed vats 11a, l ib are connected to an internal load-bearing frame, which also acts as a support for the second vat 1 lb, and define respective internal bays 12a and 12b for the storage and display of the foodstuff, advantageously packed, frozen products.
- the fronts of bays 12a and 12b are closed by respective heat-insulating glasses 13a, 13b, advantageously of the double-glazed type, having such a height to assure a vast visibility of the products.
- Each vat 11a, l ib is completed with respective frontal deflectors 24b, 22b, positioned vertically on the inside of the respective glasses 13 a, 13b, and with respective base plates 24c, 22c; deflectors and base plates also carry out, as shown further on, a channelling function for the refrigerated air.
- the second upper vat l ib has a much smaller depth with respect to the first lower vat 11a; this determines the formation of a vast frontal open space 15, on the side of the customer, which allows both a high visibility of the foodstuff, and easy operations of placing/taking of the products into/out of the first lower vat 11a.
- the display case 10 comprises a system of primary blowers 16, housed in a compartment 30created between the base plate 24c and the bottom of the first lower vat 11a.
- the primary ventilation system 16 is associated to a cooling unit 17, also arranged within compartment 30, and determines the forced circulation of the cooled air between vats 11a and l ib, according to the path indicated by arrows 18.
- the cooled air is forced upwards behind a delivery conveyor 24a, positioned before the vertical back wall of the first lower vat 11a, which also extends for the whole height of the second upper vat 1 lb.
- the air stream is divided into two parts: a first part continues going up between the delivery conveyor 22a and the back wall of vat 11a, a second part, which will be explained later, exits through the lower delivery 31.
- the part of stream which is going up finds an exit at the upper delivery 31, in order to form a horizontal thin air flow above bay 12b of the second upper vat l ib, and then is collected at the front and conveyed into an interspace 23 defined between deflector 22b and glass 13b.
- the air is channelled into a suction conveyor 22d, through a suction grid 32, thanks to the action of a system of secondary blowers 26 arranged in a compartment 25 below the base plate 22c of the second upper vat l ib.
- the secondary ventilation system 26 contributes to the recirculation of the cooled air between the second upper vat 1 lb and the first lower vat 1 la.
- the direction of the cooled air is in fact reversed and the air is forced through the lower delivery 31, above bay 12a of the first lower vat 11a, where it is superimposed and mixed to the air stream coming from the delivery conveyor 24a, in order to form also for the first lower vat a horizontal thin air flow that guarantees a correct refrigeration of the products.
- the display case 10 assures the display of a great quantity of products, with advantages in terms of visibility, accessibility and capacity that are typical of vertical open display cases, yet assuring an efficient refrigeration by horizontal thin air flow that on the contrary is typical of horizontal display cases.
- a lighting system 37 preferably consisting of neon lamps or other adequate types, is present under the bottom of the second vat 1 lband thanks to the position where it is located, it performs its lighting function without the risk of dazzling the customer.
- the display case 10 can also possibly be completed and finished with decorative and/or advertisement front panels 34, with protections 36 against shocks and/or impacts from trolleys and with an upper cover 35. It is however clear that modification and/or additions of parts can be made to the display case 10 described heretofore, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
- the direction of the circulating cooled air could be reversed maintaining however the requirement to form a substantially horizontal thin air flow above the upper l ib and lower 11a vats.
- the secondary ventilation system 26 may not be present, or there may be further blowers along the circulation path of the cooled air.
