Abstract

Disclosed is a method for producing a cast part from a molten metal, according to which the molten metal is cast into a porous mold (1), and the porous mold (1) that is filled with the molten metal is cooled with the aid of a cooling liquid. In order to achieve specifically controllable quenching of a cast part located in a mold while ensuring great flexibility, the mold (1) is sprinkled with a cooling liquid in the area of at least one section of the exterior surfaces thereof following casting of the molten metal while at least the area of the porous mold (1), which is sprinkled with the cooling liquid, is made of a material whose capillarity is adjusted to the cooling liquid in such a way that the mold (1) automatically picks up at least a partial volume of the cooling liquid that moistens the mold in the area made of said material, the material of the mold (1) absorbing the cooling liquid that moistens the mold.
