  • the temperature probe or thermostat 17 sends a signal to the electronic means 21 when the electric heater 15 reaches a pre-defined temperature value; thereupon, the electronic means 21 activate the visual or acoustical warning device 30 to inform the user on the need for the steam generator 11 to be refilled with water.
  • the way in which the method and the related apparatus operate is therefore as follows: once that the data relating to the various ironing programmes have duly been set and stored by either the manufacturer or the user via the electronic storage and control means 21, the user must simply select the desired programme in accordance with the type of fabrics to be ironed via the selection means 18; in particular, by acting upon the selector device 18a and, possibly, the selector device 18b, the selected programme is displayed, along with the selected steam emission flow rate, if any, by the display means 20 and, therefore, by the first and second indicator LEDs 22, 23 or the LCD display panel, as the case may be.
  • the data relating to the selected programme are then transmitted to the electronic storage and control means 21, which in turn act to ensure that the plate 3 of the flatiron 2 and the steam produced in the steam generator 11 reach the pre-set process values of temperature TPL and pressure PVL, respectively, by energizing the respective electric heaters 4 and 15 accordingly.
  • the electronic storage and control means 21 will adjust the extent to which the electromagnetic valve or pair of electromagnetic valves 14 shall open, and operate this electromagnetic valve or pair of electromagnetic valves 14 into opening, so as to allow steam to flow from the steam generator 11 to the flatiron 2, upon receiving a corresponding actuation command from the micro-switch 8, which is in turn actuated by a pressure being exerted manually on the push-button 9.
  • the apparatus according to the present invention has the capability of both storing a plurality of programmes with process parameters that have values, or value ranges, that are specific to each type of textile material or fabric, and controlling the instant ironing process values so as to keep them substantially unchanging with respect to the process values stored for the particular programme selected.
  • a further advantage of the apparatus according to the present invention derives from it enabling the user to maintain a manually operated control of all those ironing process parameters, such as the emission of steam from the flatiron, that are. not in any tight connection with the nature of the textile material which the fabric being ironed is made of.
  • the optimum combination of the above-mentioned parameters in accordance with the particular type of textile material which the fabric to be ironed is made of enables the ultimate result of the ironing process to be markedly improved, while at the same time enabling the amounts of both energy and water needed and used to produce steam in the steam generator 11 and heat up the plate 3 of the flatiron 2 to be sensibly optimised.
  • the control of the instant value of the steam pressure in the generator 11 enables the degree of moisture and, accordingly, the "quality" the same steam emitted from the flatiron to be in turn controlled in a most suiting manner.
  • the steam will be more or less humid depending on the higher or lower value selected for the pressure in accordance with the fabrics being ironed.
  • the sensor means to be used in this application may be of a different kind; for instance, Figure la can be noticed to illustrate a second embodiment of the present invention, which is similar to the afore described one and for which the same reference numerals have been used to indicate same or similar parts and details, in which the second sensor means adapted to detect the instant pressure Pvi of the steam are however constituted by a temperature probe 13, which practically detects the instant temperature Tvi of the outer surface of the generator 11, the latter being substantially in a relation with the instant pressure Pvi of the steam.
  • the electronic storage and control means 21 will be provided with an appropriate converter to change the temperature value to a pressure value.
  • the apparatus 1 comprises a flatiron 2, which is similar to the afore described one, is connected to a steam generator 11 of the automatic refill type and, therefore, is supplied with water flowing in from a reservoir 31 by the action of a pump 32.
  • the reservoir is provided with a conduit 31a, sealed with an equalizing cap 31b adapted to enable the same reservoir 31 to be refilled with water manually.
  • the automatic refill feature of the steam generator 11 is controlled by the electronic storage and control means 21: to these means there is in fact connected electrically also the pump 32, the energization or de-energization of which, and therefore the conveyance of water from the reservoir 31 to the generator 11 , is controlled by said electronic means 21 based on the water level being detected by third sensor means 34, such as a level probe or switch.
  • an appropriate visual or acoustical warning device 30, duly activated by said level probe 34 via the electronic means 21, will inform the user on a water deficiency situation in the reservoir 31 and, therefore, the need for the water to be restored to the required level in the same reservoir.
  • a safety thermostat 33 adapted to detect the temperature of the electric heater 15 and to become operative in case of a failure of the level probe 34.
  • the second sensor means may comprise a pressure-actuated level switch 12, as illustrated in Figure 2, or, as in the case of the embodiment illustrated in Figure la, a temperature probe 13 as represented in the fourth embodiment illustrated in Figure 2a.
  • a fifth embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in Figure 3 and comprises an automatic-refill steam generator 11 similar to the one described in EP 1 199 515 to this same Applicant and, therefore, provided with a refill nozzle 35 arranged close to the wall of the steam generator 11 that is heated by the electric heater 15.

Abstract

La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de repassage d'un article textile, programmable selon la matière de l'article textile à repasser, ainsi qu'un appareil de mise en oeuvre d'un tel procédé qui consiste à: stocker une pluralité de programmes de repassage, chacun ayant des valeurs opérationnelles convenables de la température de la plaque (3) d'un fer à repasser (2) et la pression de la vapeur générée dans un générateur de vapeur (11) connecté au fer à repasser; sélectionner un programme ayant une température de plaque égale à TPL et une pression de vapeur égale à PVL d'après la matière dont est constitué l'article textile à repasser; détecter les valeurs instantanées de la température de plaque TPI et la pression de vapeur PVI pendant le repassage; et comparer les valeurs instantanées TPI, PVI avec les valeurs de fonctionnement TPL, PVL en vue du maintien desdites valeurs TPI, PVI pratiquement inchangée par rapport aux valeurs de fonctionnement TPL, PVL.
