Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for detaching a bone part from a carcass part.
- slaughter lines The product of such slaughter lines usually consists of whole carcasses or carcasses divided into halves.
- the half-carcasses are usually further divided into shoulders, middles and hams.
- the shoulders, middles and hams are further processed and subdivided in manual manner in cutting rooms.
- the manual operations can be simplified or supported with specific tools, although they must still be supported by manual work.
- the activities required in cutting rooms result in work that is physically arduous and not much liked.
- the object of the present invention is to reduce the human involvement req ⁇ ired in the processing of carcass parts.
- the present invention provides for this purpose a method for detaching a bone part from a carcass part, comprising the processing steps of: A) displacing a carcass part for processing by means of a conveyor, B) mechanically engaging a segment of the carcass part for detaching that protrudes from the carcass part or is unattached, C) exerting a, force on the mechanically engaged segment of the bone part such that the bone part is released from the remaining carcass part, wherein the carcass part is displaced in accordance with processing step A) while a force is exerted on the bone part as according to processing step C).
- Displacing of carcass parts by means of conveyors is per se known.
- a coupling can take a rigid form, but other methods of realizing a coupling are also possible, such as for instance a coupling with a force limiter.
- the advantage of a coupling (which can also be referred to as a synchronization of the movements) is that the two movements do not have to be separately controlled. This simplifies the equipment needed and decreases the chance of malfunctions and/or errors in the control.
- a compensating force is also exerted on the carcass part to compensate for the force transmitted by the bone part to the carcass part.
- the orientation of the carcass part relative to the conveyor is thus maintained. This measure also results in an improved ability to control the production process. It is also possible that, after release of the bone part according to processing step C), it is guided to a discharge position.
- the detached bone parts, such as shoulder blades, can thus be discharged in automatic manner.
- the engaged segment of the bone part is engaged by a stationary guide, relative to which the segment of the bone part is displaced.
- a stationary guide forms a relatively simple construction (envisage for instance a double rail between which a protruding shoulder blade joint is clamped).
- the force required to detach the bone part is herein derived from the drive of the conveyor.
- the engaged segment of the bone part can be engaged during processing step C) by a gripper displaceable at least partly parallel to the conveyor.
- a gripper can for instance be controlled by a robot arm and enables variation of the process subject to measurable process parameters (for instance detaching left and right-hand shoulders with different movements of the gripper).
- the invention also provides an apparatus for detaching a bone part from a carcass part, comprising: a conveyor for carcass parts, engaging means located at a distance from the conveyor for engaging a segment of a bone part that protrudes from a carcass part or is engageable, positioning means for positioning the carcass parts relative to the conveyor, and means for exerting a force on an engaged segment of a bone part such that the bone part is released from the carcass part, wherein the force-exerting means are adapted to exert the force detaching the bone part during displacement of the carcass part by means of the conveyor.
- the means for exerting a force on an engaged segment of a bone part, such that the bone part is released from the carcass part can be formed by a guide, which can for instance have a stationary disposition at a distance from the conveyor.
- a guide which can for instance have a stationary disposition at a distance from the conveyor.
- the use of a stationary guide is little susceptible to malfunction and requires little maintenance.
- the means for exerting a force on an engaged segment of a bone part such that the bone part is released from the carcass part
- a displaceable gripper A more product-specific processing can be carried out with the gripper. It is the case for both the guide and the displaceable gripper that detaching of the bone part takes place by pulling or tearing the bone part away from the surrounding tissue.
- a very simple, and in practice frequently applied form of the conveyor is characterized by an endless conveyor belt.
- the positioning means can be formed by a holding-down means disposed at a distance from the conveyor.
- An example hereof is a rod or pole which is disposed above a conveyor belt and which prevents carcass parts being pulled from the conveyor.
- the positioning means can also urge the carcass parts with some bias against the conveyor so as to thus ensure a certain positioning.
- the holding-down means can be formed by a contact member displaceable substantially parallel to the conveyor, such as an endless belt or chain co-displacing with the conveyor. This can prevent damage to the carcass part occurring due to the movement . of a stationary holding-down means along the carcass part. This also prevents carcass parts encountering resistance from the holding-down means.
- a further advantage of co- displacing positioning means is that they can be cleaned before being brought into contact with a carcass part. This is extremely advantageous from the point of view of hygiene.
- Yet another variant for maintaining the position of the carcass parts relative to the conveyor is to provide the conveyor with engaging means.
- Such engaging means can for instance be formed by suction openings (vacuum openings) in the conveyor.
- the apparatus is also provided with cutting means co-acting with the engaging means for severing at least a part of the tissues connecting the bone part to the carcass part.
- the cutting means can be positioned with the engaging means as reference, so that positioning thereof requires hardly any structural effort.'.
- figure 1 is a perspective view of an apparatus according to the invention
- figure 2 is a perspective view of an alternative embodiment variant of the apparatus according to the invention
- figure 3 is a schematic side view of a second alternative embodiment variant of the apparatus according to the invention.
- Figure 1 shows an apparatus 1 for removing shoulder blades 2 from the shoulder parts 3 of slaughtered animals. After processing of shoulder parts 3 in apparatus 1 there remain carcass parts 4 from which shoulder blade 2 has been removed. Shoulder parts 3 are supplied by a conveyor belt 5 as according to arrow P 1. Partitions 6 are placed on conveyor belt 5 to secure the position of shoulder parts 3 on conveyor belt 5. Conveyor belt 5 is supported by a frame 7, which frame 7 also supports a stationary guide track 8. A segment 9 of a shoulder blade 2 protruding from a shoulder part 3 is clamped in guide track 8 during advancing of shoulder part 3. This positioning of segment 9 can take place manually, but can also be mechanized or automated. As shoulder blade 3 continues further, segment 9 of shoulder blade 3 is moved away from shoulder part 3 by guide track 8.
- FIG 2 shows an alternative embodiment variant of an apparatus 20 for deboning of carcass parts not shown in this figure.
- a schematically represented conveyor belt 21 Placed above a schematically represented conveyor belt 21 is a guide 22 to which connects an actively rotatable screw spindle 23. By rotating screw spindle 23 by means of a drive 24 an engaged segment of a bone part for detaching can be actively pulled free of the remaining carcass part.
- figure 3 shows schematically an apparatus 30 for removing bone parts 32 from carcass parts 31, wherein use is made of a gripper 34 displaceable with a robot arm 33.
- a holding-down means in the form of an endless belt 36 is disposed above a conveyor 35 carrying carcass parts 31. This endless belt 36 can be advanced at the same speed as conveyor 35.
- a carcass part 31 is thus clamped between conveyor 35 and endless belt 36 while the bone part 32 is detached by gripper 34.
- cleaning means 37 are provided with which endless belt 36 can be cleaned during each circulation.
