Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft Brennstoffzellen, die mit flüssigen, dampfförmigen oder gasförmigen Brennstoffen oder Brennstoffgemischen betrieben werden, in der die in der Brennstoffzelle (BZ) erzeugte elektrische Energie sofort und speziell während eines Regelprozesses an einen parallelen elektrischen Energiespeicher oder einer Einrichtung abgegeben wird, die jederzeit die gesamte elektrische Energie aufnehmen können. Mit diesem hier beschriebenen Verfahren wird die abgegebene Leistung so geregelt, dass unabhängig von der Brennstoffkonzentration in der Einzellzelle, dem Zellenstapel, im Folgenden Stack genannt, oder Teile von diesem, die maximale Leistung entnommen oder ein möglichst hoher Wirkungsgrad erreicht wird. Dieser optimale Arbeitspunkt ergibt sich genau dann, wenn die Strom-Spannungskennlinie der Einzellzelle oder des Stacks vom ohmschen Bereich durch den Spannungsabfall über der Membran in den stofftransportlimitierten Bereich übergeht. Aufgrund des Verfahrens kann eine kontrollaufwändige Brennstoffzuführung und/oder Luft- bzw. Sauerstoffzuführung vermieden werden. Weiterhin können mit dieser Regelung Verfahren unterstützt und verbessert werden, die auf eine exakte Brennstoffzuführung ausgelegt sind.
