Abstract

Description

ENSEMBLE POUR LA CONNEXION DE DEUX ELEMENTS TUBULAIRES THERMOPLASTIQUES
La présente invention se rapporte à un ensemble pour la fixation, par fusion, de deux éléments tubulaires thermoplastiques thermiquement non-expansibles. L'invention concerne également une méthode de fixation d'éléments tubulaires thermoplastiques utilisant ledit ensemble.
On connaît des ensembles de fixation de deux éléments tubulaires thermoplastiques thermiquement non-expansibles, consécutivement à la fusion par chauffage de leur zone de contact. Le chauffage peut être réalisé par instauration d'un champ magnétique (chauffage par induction) ou d'un courant (chauffage par résistance) dans un élément conducteur incorporé dans l'un des éléments tubulaires thermoplastiques. De tels systèmes sont décrits dans les documents brevets WO 80/02124, EP 0 480 053 A1 , US 4 634 844, WO 81/02405.
Les systèmes de l'état de la technique sont relativement onéreux et complexes à réaliser du fait de la mise en place de l'élément conducteur dans l'élément tubulaire.
Un des buts de la présente invention vise à simplifier les ensembles pour la fixation, par fusion, de deux éléments tubulaires.
Un autre but concerne la possibilité d'utiliser des éléments tubulaires existants qui ne contiennent pas d'éléments conducteurs dans leurs zones de fixation mais qui, au prix d'une modification très simple du diamètre interne de l'un des éléments tubulaires, peuvent être fixés l'un à l'autre par fusion.
Ces buts sont atteints par la réalisation d'un ensemble pour la fixation par fusion de deux éléments tubulaires thermoplastiques thermiquement non-expansibles caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprend un premier élément tubulaire thermoplastique thermiquement non-expansible et comportant une zone de fixation sur la paroi interne de l'une de ses extrémités, un deuxième élément tubulaire thermoplastique thermiquement non-expansible et comportant une zone de fixation sur la paroi externe de l'une de ses extrémités, le diamètre de la paroi interne de ladite extrémité du premier élément tubulaire étant supérieur au diamètre de la paroi externe de ladite extrémité du deuxième élément tubulaire de manière à définir, lorsque les deux extrémités se recouvrent, un espace annulaire entre lesdites parois interne et externe, l'ensemble comprenant en outre un manchon thermoplastique adapté pour se loger dans ledit espace annulaire, ledit manchon renfermant un élément conducteur pouvant être chauffé par induction.
Par « thermoplastique », il faut comprendre n'importe quelle matière plastique qui fond sous l'action de la chaleur ou, tout au moins, se ramollit suffisamment pour pouvoir être mise en forme un nombre infini de fois, sans modification de ses propriétés. A titre non limitatif de matériau thermoplastique pouvant être utilisé dans le cadre de la présente invention, on peut citer le polypropylène, le poly butène, le polyéthylène ou tout autre résine synthétique similaire.
Les éléments tubulaires utilisés dans le cadre de la présente invention peuvent avoir n'importe quelle forme. Un des éléments peut être un raccord, un élément coudé ou un élément en forme de T.
L'invention concerne également une méthode de fixation par fusion de deux éléments tubulaires utilisant l'ensemble décrit précédemment caractérisée par les étapes suivantes : - ajustement du diamètre de la paroi interne du premier élément tubulaire de manière à pouvoir disposer le manchon dans ledit espace annulaire,
- disposition du manchon autour de l'extrémité du deuxième élément tubulaire,
- introduction de l'extrémité du deuxième élément tubulaire et du manchon dans l'extrémité du premier élément tubulaire,
- chauffage et fusion par induction de la zone de fixation. L'ajustement du diamètre de la paroi interne du premier élément tubulaire peut être réalisé très simplement. On choisit initialement un raccord de diamètre inférieur à celui recherché puis on agrandit ce raccord au moyen d'une machine conventionnelle.
Un exemple de réalisation de l'invention est décrit de manière plus détaillé au moyen des figures suivantes :
La figure 1 représente une coupe longitudinale d'un ensemble de fixation de deux éléments tubulaires. La figure 2 représente une coupe frontale de l'ensemble de la figure 1.
L'ensemble illustré sur les figures 1 et 2 est constitué d'un premier élément tubulaire thermoplastique 1 et d'un deuxième élément tubulaire thermoplastique 2. Le diamètre extérieur du deuxième élément tubulaire 2 étant inférieur au diamètre intérieur du premier élément tubulaire 1. La différence de diamètre entre les deux éléments tubulaires 1 ,2 peut par exemple être de l'ordre de 4 mm. L'espace annulaire créé entre les deux des éléments tubulaires 1 ,2 est occupé par un manchon thermoplastique 3 comprenant à un élément conducteur 5 en forme de bague. L'épaisseur de l'élément conducteur 5 peut-être de l'ordre de 1 mm. L'épaisseur du manchon thermoplastique 3 peut-être de 2 mm. Le diamètre interne du manchon thermoplastique 3 peut-être de l'ordre de 40 mm et sa longueur de l'ordre de 15 mm.
Une fois l'ensemble mis en place, l'élément conducteur 5 est chauffé par induction, entraînant de la sorte une fusion du matériau thermoplastique qui constitue le manchon 3 et des parois adjacentes des éléments tubulaires 1,2. Après refroidissement, l'ensemble forme un bloc homogène de matière thermoplastique, assurant ainsi la fixation des éléments tubulaires 1,2.

Ensemble pour la fixation par fusion de deux éléments tubulaires (1 ,2) thermoplastiques thermiquement non-expansibles caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprend un premier élément tubulaire thermoplastique (1 ) thermiquement non-expansible et comportant une zone de fixation (4) sur la paroi interne de l'une de ses extrémités, un deuxième élément tubulaire thermoplastique (2) thermiquement non-expansible et comportant une zone de fixation (6) sur la paroi externe de l'une de ses extrémités, le diamètre de la paroi interne de ladite extrémité du premier élément tubulaire (1) étant supérieur au diamètre de la paroi externe de ladite extrémité du deuxième élément tubulaire (2) de manière à définir, lorsque les deux extrémités se recouvrent, un espace annulaire entre lesdites parois interne et externe, l'ensemble comprenant en outre un manchon thermoplastique (3) adapté pour se loger dans ledit espace annulaire, ledit manchon (3) renfermant un élément conducteur (5) pouvant être chauffé par induction.
Ensemble selon la revendication précédente caractérisé en ce que le premier élément tubulaire est un raccord.
Méthode de fixation par fusion de deux éléments tubulaires utilisant l'ensemble de la revendication 1 caractérisée par les étapes suivantes :
- ajustement du diamètre de la paroi interne du premier élément tubulaire de manière à pouvoir disposer le manchon dans ledit espace annulaire,
- disposition du manchon autour de l'extrémité du deuxième élément tubulaire,
- introduction de l'extrémité du deuxième élément tubulaire et du manchon dans l'extrémité du premier élément tubulaire,
- chauffage et fusion par induction de la zone de fixation.
