Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'enlever des résidus catalytiques métalliques de polymères hydrogénés. Dans un mode de réalisation, ledit procédé consiste à effectuer la polymérisation anionique d'un hydrocarbure aromatique vinylique et d'un dièse conjugué afin de produire un ciment polymère comprenant un copolymère séquencé à terminaisons de chaînes vivantes; à terminer ces chaînes vivantes à l'aide d'un alcool; à mettre en contact le copolymère à terminaison alcool avec un hydrogène, dans un solvant approprié, en présence d'un catalyseur à base de nickel ou de cobalt; à laver le ciment polymère à l'aide d'un oxydant et d'un acide inorganique; à neutraliser les acides résiduels; et à récupérer le copolymère séquencé du ciment polymère. L'oxydant peut être de l'oxygène ou un peroxyde. On ajoute ledit oxydant au ciment polymère avant l'acide inorganique ou on le mélange avec ledit acide. L'adjonction d'un acide organique avant l'adjonction d'un acide inorganique réduit significativement la quantité de phase aqueuse entraînée et le contenu de sel inorganique du polymère fini. Le produit polymère résultant présente une excellente stabilité au vieillissement thermique.
