Ce cadre est conçu pour loger un miroir qui définit la face avant du rétroviseur dans le sens d'avancement du véhicule, et qui délimite un logement à l'intérieur. Cette carcasse (1) est en couleur et est constituée d'un matériau résistant à l'impact qui permet de faire passer la lumière à travers. Une surface en couleur située sous la carcasse (1), s'étend partiellement ou totalement en opposition à la face interne de cette carcasse (1). Ainsi, on peut obtenir, à partir d'un nombre limité de couleurs de cette carcasse (1) et d'un nombre limité de couleurs de cette surface interne, une grande gamme de couleurs susceptible d'être assorties à la carrosserie du véhicule.
