- the present invention refers to a water dispensing reservoir to be adapted to the inside of the cabinet of a refrigerator, in order to provide the user with an easy and fast access to a cold water supply that occupies a reduced useful internal volume of the cabinet .
- Background of the Invention There are well known in the art different systems of cold water supply in refrigerators of domestic use. Besides the usual removable recipients generally in the form of bottles placed on shelves provided in the cabinet body or in the internal face of the door, it is very common the use of systems in which the cabinet works as a heat exchanger to cool the water contained in a duct that is externally fed from the water system available in the building, and whose outlet end is provided with a dispensing valve to be accessed by the user from the outside of the cabinet.
- the water dispensing reservoir of the present invention is adaptable to a refrigerator comprising a cabinet provided with opposite lateral walls, in which inside are provided shelves vertically spaced from each other.
- the water dispensing reservoir comprises a recipient generally with an elongated parallelepipedic shape, which is removably adapted inside the cabinet of the refrigerator, in the space defined between two consecutive shelves.
- the recipient presents, frontally and inferiorly, a dispensing valve having a downwardly facing outlet nozzle and provided with manual driving means, whose actuation causes the opening and closing of the dispensing valve.
- the manual driving means are generally forced, through an elastic means, to return to a position in which the dispensing valve is closed.
- the recipient can be provided with engaging means in a support that is constructed to be previously affixed against one of the lateral walls of the cabinet, allowing the recipient to remain adjacent to the shelf immediately above and spaced from the shelf immediately below.

- the present water dispensing reservoir is applied to refrigerators presenting a cabinet 10, having two lateral walls 11, a rear wall 12, and a plurality of shelves 13 vertically spaced from each other.
- the water dispensing reservoir comprises a recipient 20 constructed in a transparent or translucent plastic material, and presenting a preferable elongated parallelepipedic shape, with a height substantially inferior to the vertical distance between the shelves 13 that are placed immediately above and immediately below in relation to the position of the recipient 20 inside the cabinet 10.
- the recipient 20 further presents, preferably, a width that is inferior to 1/4 the distance between the two opposite lateral walls 11 of the cabinet 10, and a longitudinal extension that is substantially equal to the depth of the adjacent shelves 13.
- the recipient 20 presents an upper removable lid 21, which is constructed to be fitted onto the recipient 20, and to be able to angularly articulate a small upper overlid 21a, between a closed position, completely covering an opening 21b provided in said lid 21, hindering the access to the interior of the recipient, and an opened position, in which it uncovers said opening 21b, allowing the recipient 20 to have its volume completed with an additional amount of water, without requiring to be removed from the inside of the cabinet 10.
- the removal of the recipient 20 is only necessary when there is a need of cleaning the interior thereof.
- the recipient 20 is frontally and inferiorly provided with a dispensing valve 30 of any known construction, presenting a downwardly facing outlet nozzle 31, which can be positioned displaced forwardly in relation to a vertical alignment containing a front end edge portion of the shelf 13 provided immediately below the dispensing valve 30, the dispensing valve 30 being further provided with manual driving means, which in the illustrated embodiment take the form of a lever 32, which is actuated from an external button 32a, the axial movement of the button 32a and the angular movement of the lever 32, in one direction, causing the opening of the dispensing valve (30) and, in the opposite direction, the closing of said dispensing valve (30) .
- the recipient 20 can be adapted in the interior of the cabinet 10, so as to be positioned close to a lateral wall 11 and to a shelf 13 immediately above, allowing to use the whole supporting surface of the shelf 13 immediately below.
- a support 40 In order to facilitate the adaptation of the recipient 20 inside the cabinet 10, there is provided a support 40, generally in the form of a plate to be affixed against one of the lateral walls of the cabinet 10.
- the fixation of the support 40 can be effected in different manners, such as by screws, which are adapted during the construction of the cabinet 10, or applied afterwards by the user himself or by the technical assistance.
- the support 40 is provided with connecting means 4, which are constructed to receive, by fitting, the engaging means 25 laterally incorporated to the recipient 20.
- This construction is designed to allow a fast and easy mounting of the recipient 20 to the cabinet 10, generally by means of a sliding operation, which facilitates removing the recipient 20, for example to be cleaned, or by any other reason.
- the recipient 20 carries, frontally, a cover 50 involving laterally and frontally the dispensing valve 30 and which is provided with a median front window 51 to access the button 32a of the lever 32.
- the cover 50 is preferably obtained from a material that is sufficiently transparent to allow the user to have only a visual perception of the contour of the dispensing valve 30.
