  • Multiple-cell gabions can be shaped in different ways, thus making it possible to bend, overlap or juxtapose curves.
  • the banks, embankments or river beds capable of being protected using gabions with overhangs according to the present invention are previously cleaned, reprofiled and leveled to be free from any depressions or asperities, branches, stumps or other.   • the free edges of the cover are adjusted and positioned above the edges of the corresponding gabions.
  • the gabions 10 are then transported to the place of their implementation by suitable means, which must be designed in such a way that the handling of the gabions causes little or no deformation of the structure, and that each gabion is lifted in several points without risk of injury to the wires, or high work rate in the metal wires.
  • the filled structure can for example be moved using a lifting beam or other known handling means clinging to a lifting device of the strap type or other taking up in a distributed manner the forces under load of the gabion.
  • the gabions 10 are then placed and juxtaposed in an underwater environment so that the spaces between each gabion 10 are best limited in their final location. We must make sure to cover the overhang 14 of each gabion 10 with the cage of the neighboring gabion, as illustrated in FIG. 2.
