Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for determining a temperature variable in a mass flow line.
- temperature values are evaluated when determining the manipulated variables of the motor depending on a preset value (see e.g. DE-A 196 18 385).
- Another application of the evaluation of such a temperature value is the formation of actual values in the context of the motor control, e.g. within the scope of the load registration (see e.g. DE-A 197 40 914).
- the temperature of the inflowing gas in front of the throttle point is of particular interest to take into account the current density of the gas.
- This temperature can be determined by a corresponding temperature sensor, which is, however, not recommended in terms of effort and cost.
- FER It is also possible to estimate this temperature on the basis of the temperature after the throttle valve in the mass flow line by equating the temperature before the throttle point and that after the throttle point. The temperature after the throttling point is measured. This approximate determination of the temperature upstream of the throttling point is no longer accurate enough if a mass flow is supplied between the throttling point and the temperature measurement downstream of the throttling point, the temperature of which differs significantly from the temperature before the throttling point. Then, after the throttling point, a mixed temperature is measured from these two temperature variables.
- exhaust gas that is returned is introduced between the throttle valve and intake manifold temperature sensor into the intake manifold (exhaust gas recirculation).
- This exhaust gas has a relatively high temperature, so that the mixing temperature measured in the intake manifold differs significantly from the temperature in front of the throttle valve.
- the error caused by equating the two temperatures in this case is unsatisfactory with regard to the accuracy of the engine control.
- the temperature is to be measured before the throttle point and to be estimated after the throttle point, or if an estimate of the temperature of the additionally introduced gas is to be determined without measurement.
- the modeling of the temperature before and after the throttle valve fulfills the accuracy requirements in connection with the control of an internal combustion engine.
- the modeled signal is attenuated by means of a filter, preferably a low-pass filter, in order to avoid a signal that is too unsteady.
- the time constant of the filter is advantageously adapted to the proportion of the gas flow introduced in the total flow, the higher the rate, the greater the time constant. This significantly reduces the influence of inaccuracies and fluctuations in this proportion.
- FIG. 1 shows a circuit diagram of a mass flow line with a throttle point and introduction of an additional gas flow and a flow chart of the associated evaluation electronics
- FIG. 2 shows a flow chart which represents a specific preferred procedure for modeling the temperature upstream of the throttle point in the context of a computer program.
- the mass flow line 10 represents the intake manifold, the throttle point 12 the throttle valve and the additional mass flow line 14 the exhaust gas recirculation line.
- a gas flow in the mass flow line 10 flows from left to right, in the mass flow line 14 from top down.
- a first temperature sensor 16 is provided, which supplies the temperature of the flowing gas in the mass flow line 10 after the additional mass flow has been initiated.
- a further temperature sensor 18 measures the temperature of the inflowing gas flow in the mass Power line 14.
- the corresponding temperature signals Tsr and Tabgs are output via lines 20 and 22 to an electronic control unit 24.
- the temperature of the inflowing gas flow in the mass flow line 14 is calculated, for example, on the basis of the temperature of the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine.
- control unit 4 is supplied with a signal ml via the input line 26, which signal represents a measure of the gas flow of the gas flow in the mass flow line 10. This signal is determined by means of a mass flow meter 27.
- control unit 24 is supplied with a variable via an input line 29, which represents the position of a valve 28 in the mass flow line 14.
- At least one microcomputer is provided in the electronic control unit 24, which outputs programs for evaluating the supplied signals and possibly for forming control variables for controlling units connected to the mass flow lines.
- the electronic control unit 24 represents an electronic engine control, which as a function of a large number of input variables, determines control variables for setting the ignition, air supply, fuel supply, etc. of an internal combustion engine.
- the programs running in the microcomputer not shown in FIG. 1 are symbolized in FIG. 1 using blocks 28 and 30 with a view to the procedure described below for modeling the temperature Tavdk in front of the throttle point 12.
- the model 28 uses the above-mentioned temperature variables and the flow variable.
- the proportion of the mass flow in line 14 in the total flow after the line 14 has merged into line 10 is formed as the ratio of the mass flow msagr in line 14 to the total flow (msagr + ml).
- the individual mass flows measured by mass flow meters (as shown above using the mass flow ml) or calculated using models.
- the air mass flow that flows via the throttle valve 12 in the line 10 is measured (air mass meter 27) or from the throttle valve position, the temperature in the flow direction in front of the throttle valve, the pressure in front of the throttle valve and the pressure ratio at the throttle valve determined.
- the mass flow in line 14 is calculated, for example, from the position of exhaust gas recirculation valve 28, the temperature in the direction of flow in front of the valve, the pressure in front of the valve and the pressure ratio at the valve, in one embodiment the temperature in front of the valve from the exhaust gas temperature and the mass flow in line 14 is determined.
- the temperature in front of the throttle point 12 Tavdk is estimated from the variables mentioned. This is processed in the control programs 30 together with other operating variables into manipulated variables which are output by the control unit 24 to corresponding actuating elements.
- control programs 30 In the preferred exemplary embodiment of the control of an internal combustion engine, such procedures are known, for example, from the prior art mentioned at the beginning.
- the temperature upstream of the throttle point 12 is formed on the basis of the temperature of the additional gas mass flow and the temperature after the introduction of this additional gas mass flow and the proportion of this additional mass flow in the total flow.
- the rate two temperature variables and one variable representing the share of the additional mass flow in the total flow (hereinafter referred to as the rate) are necessary.
- the preferred application takes place in the context of the configuration shown in FIG. 1 in connection with the control of an internal combustion engine.
- the accuracy of the setting of the throttle valve and the calculation of the air flow over the throttle valve position are improved in accordance with the prior art mentioned at the beginning. This also helps to comply with exhaust gas regulations without measuring the air flow in the intake pipe 10.
- Figure 2 shows a concrete procedure for modeling the desired temperature.
- FIG. 2 describes a program of a microcomputer of the control unit 24, the individual blocks representing program parts, programs or program steps, while the connecting lines outline the flow of information.
- the flow chart in FIG. 2 represents a preferred embodiment of the model 28.
- the maximum value of the rate rrext is 1. If a value other than the maximum value is specified, the equation must be adapted accordingly.
- the direct implementation of the formula provides a restless signal, which is not particularly suitable for evaluation in the context of control processes.
- a filter preferably a low-pass filter, is therefore used to dampen the determined model output variable.
- the time constant of the filter is chosen to be greater the higher the proportion of the additional mass flow in the total flow. The influence of the inaccuracies and fluctuations in this portion are thereby reduced.
- the flow chart of the model shown in FIG. 2 reads the exhaust gas temperature Tabgs and the exhaust gas recirculation rate rrext.
- the two quantities are linked multiplicatively in a multiplication point 100.
- the product of the two quantities is fed to a subtraction point 102, in which the product is subtracted from the intake manifold temperature Tsr.
- the exhaust gas recirculation rate in subtraction point 104 is subtracted from the value 1.
- This difference and the difference that was formed in the subtraction point 102 are fed to a division part 106, the difference from 102 being divided by the difference from 104.
- the result, the raw signal before the temperature before the throttle point is fed to a low-pass filter 108.
- T Its time constant T is derived from a characteristic curve 110, the input variable of which is the exhaust gas recirculation rate rrext.
- the characteristic curve is designed such that the greater the exhaust gas recirculation rate, the greater the time constant, ie the more pronounced the filter effect. That from the low pass smoothed raw signal then represents the evaluable signal for the temperature upstream of the throttling point Tavdk, which will be evaluated in the further course, for example, in the context of the above-mentioned procedures.
- the basis of the model is the relationship that the mixing temperature after initiation of the additional gas mass flow is made up of the proportion of this gas mass flow in the total flow times its temperature and the proportion subtracted from its maximum value times the temperature upstream of the throttle point:
- Tsr (1-msagr / (msagr + ml)) * Tabgs + (msagr / (msagr + ml)) * Tavdk
- the mixing temperature Tsr is modeled or, if the temperature upstream of the throttle point and the mixing temperature is known, the temperature of the additional gas flow is determined. Furthermore, it is necessary to know the mass flows forming the total flow or the proportion of one of these sub-flows in the total flow (as above the proportion rrext of the additional mass flow, in another embodiment when reformulating the relationship, the proportion rrml of the mass flow in line 10 in the total flow).
