  • the restraining device of the present invention is in the form of a seat which can be used as a conventional seat, there is no need to remove the seat from the vehicle, if the vehicle is to carry a passenger in a wheelchair. All that is required is for the seat squab to be removed and the position of the seat-back to be adjusted, and then the restraining device may be used to restrain a wheelchair occupant. Consequently it is envisaged that there may be no need to remove a vehicle seat which constitutes a restraining device in accordance with the invention from the motor vehicle, enabling the seat to be mounted securely and permanently in position.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un système de retenue destiné à retenir l'occupant d'un fauteuil roulant dans un véhicule. Ledit système comporte un siège de véhicule (1) composé d'une assise amovible (33) et d'un dossier (26) pouvant être déplacé sur une structure support inférieure, d'une position reculée au maximum vers une position avancée au maximum lorsque l'assise (33) à été retirée. Lorsque le dossier (26) est en position reculée au maximum et que l'assise est en place, le siège peut être utilisé comme un siège habituel. Lorsque l'assise (33) est retirée et que le dossier (26) est déplacé dans sa position avancée au maximum, une chaise roulante (70) peut être maintenue dans une position adjacente au dossier par l'intermédiaire de sangles (57), et une ceinture de sécurité (31) disposée sur le dossier peut servir à retenir l'occupant du fauteuil roulant.
