Definitions
- the invention relates to a sieve.
- Sieves are used in technology in many places or in many processes in order to achieve a separation of parts which are contained in a medium passing through the sieve. Strainers are used in particular in dishwashers to separate food residues that are carried in the washing liquor. The particular problem with dishwashers is that the separated food residues have to be removed from the sieve again.
- two disks provided with parallel longitudinal slots are provided in a self-cleaning sieve known from DE-A1-29 45 929, which are offset by 90 ° with respect to the slot direction on the one hand and are arranged axially movable on the other.
- the panes In one position, the panes abut one another, so that small square passage openings are formed by the intersecting longitudinal slots, by means of which parts that are larger than the passage cross section of these small passage openings are retained.
- a cleaning of the sieve is achieved in that at least one sieve disc is axially displaced with respect to the other sieve disc by changing the flow direction, so that the longitudinal slots now form the passage openings.
- the invention has for its object to provide a screen which no longer has these disadvantages.
- this object is achieved in that the cross-sectional size of the sieve openings depends on one that penetrates the sieve
- Medium inherent size is automatically changeable.
- the change in cross-section of the sieve openings caused by such a change allows the sieve to be flushed free of deposited parts.
- the sieve consists of only one part, which is arranged in a fixed position. This means that jamming, as can occur with a movably attached sieve, is no longer possible.
- a one-piece screen also means less material.
- the change in a quantity inherent in the medium for example temperature or flow velocity, is easier to achieve than a change in the direction of flow.
- a particularly advantageous embodiment of the screen is characterized in that the screen openings are covered or covered by elements, the shape or position of which can be changed with respect to the screen openings under the influence of heat.
- the cross-sectional size of the sieve openings can thus be influenced as a function of the temperature of the medium flowing through the sieve. Since in many technical processes there is already a temperature change in the medium passing through the sieve, cleaning of the sieve is practically inevitable.
- a particularly simple design of the sieve results from the fact that the elements are punched out like tongues from the sieve openings.
- the tongue-like elements pivot out of the sieve openings at a certain temperature, which results in an increase in the passage cross section.
- the elements can advantageously consist of a shape memory alloy or be designed as bimetallic elements.
- Such alloys change their shape or position, for example, under the influence of heat. That means when they reach a certain temperature they take on a different shape or a different position and return to their original shape or position when the original temperature prevails again. Since in many technical processes a temperature change occurs anyway when the medium passing through the sieve, cleaning of the sieve is practically inevitable.
- a further embodiment of the sieve is characterized in that the sieve openings are covered or covered by flap-like elements, these elements being held in a starting position by the action of force and being adjustable in another position by the flow velocity of the medium passing through the sieve in the sense of a cross-sectional change of the sieve openings ,
- a sieve of the type described above can be used in a dishwasher with particular advantages.
- the sieve is used to filter out food residues contained in the washing liquor. It is necessary that occasional food residues are occasionally rinsed off the sieve while the washing program is running. Since the washing liquor during the individual washing processes, e.g. Pre-rinsing, cleaning, intermediate rinsing, rinsing, a different temperature results in a temperature-dependent change in the passage cross-sections during the course of the washing program, sections in which the cross-section of the sieve openings is enlarged to such an extent that deposited food residues can be removed through the sieve openings. Self-cleaning of the sieve inevitably occurs.
- FIG. 1 shows a plate-shaped sieve, with sieve openings in which tongue-like tabs are punched out
- Figure 2 shows a partial cross section of the screen in a state in which the tongue-like tabs are pivoted out of the screen openings and
- FIG 3 shows a partial cross section of the screen in a state in which the tongue-like tabs lie in the plane of the plate-shaped screen body.
- This plate-shaped body 2 carries two inserts 3, the material of which consists of a shape memory alloy.
- Such alloys change, for example, under the influence of me their shape or location. That means when they reach a certain temperature they take on a different shape or a different position and return to their original shape or position when the original temperature prevails again.
- Tongue-like tabs 4 are punched out on the inserts 3. These tongue-like tabs 4 change their position under the influence of heat. Thus, at a certain temperature, these tabs 4 bend or pivot, as shown in FIG. 2. This bending or pivoting of the tabs results in correspondingly large passage openings 5 in the inserts 3.
- the tabs 4 assume a position in which they lie in the plane of the inserts 3. This leaves only the narrow punching slots 6, which are created when the tabs 4 are punched out, as passage openings, as can be seen from FIG. 3. Since these punched slots 6 are very narrow, approximately 0.2 mm, only correspondingly small parts carried by the medium can pass through these punched slots 6. In this case, the screen 1 has a high filtering effect, i.e. a lot of parts are deposited. If the above-mentioned pivoting of the tabs 4 then occurs as a result of a change in temperature, the deposited parts are removed through the enlarged passage openings 5 and the sieve 1 is free again.
- the passage openings 5 of the screen 1 can also be covered or covered, for example, by flap-like elements which e.g. depending on the flow rate of the medium flowing through the screen 1 in the sense of a cross-sectional enlargement or reduction. To clean the sieve 1, only a change in the flow rate is then necessary. Such a change in speed is easy to do.
