Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for demonstrating information, in particular in a moving vehicle, in which master information is stored on a computer, which is then presented on at least one demonstration device, in the additional information with the aid of a transmitting device and a receiving device connected to the computer are transmitted to the computer, in which the additional information is evaluated by the computer and in which, depending on the additional information, the information presented on the at least one demonstration device is changed.
- the invention further relates to a device for presenting information.
- Such a method has hitherto been used in particular in supra-regional trains, the demonstration devices being designed as computer screens on which the master information is presented to a user.
- the master information is transferred to the computer at specified locations, for example in a depot, and remains unchanged until the next stop at such a location, since no further data exchange takes place during the journey between two depots. Therefore, with the methods known from the prior art, only information with an up-to-dateness that is linked to the time of transmission of the master information can be demonstrated.
- a method is known in which information is displayed on screens or screens in bus and subway stations. This method uses existing telephone connections for the transmission of the data, which means that current information can also be presented. However, this method always requires a direct data connection, so that it can only be used via mobile telephone connections, in particular in the case of moving vehicles. The cost of the process is therefore significant.
- a method for vehicle-related information transmission is known, which is designed to provide location-specific visual and / or acoustic information on the route of a vehicle, such as a public transport, at the current location of the vehicle take place or be offered. This is achieved by linking stored advertising information that is assigned to geographic data with current vehicle location data, which is obtained, for example, via the GPS system.
- a radio data transmission can be provided, a corresponding receiving system having to be present on the vehicle.
- a passenger information system for rail vehicles which has a receiving device for receiving radio signals containing different information and an information processing and storage device for evaluating the information contained in the radio signals and for storing this information or for renewing corresponding associated information already stored.
- Passengers can selectively determine the types of information that criz- in the Informationsverar- and memory means are stored and ⁇ are selectively displayed to the 'passenger.
- a "telephone connection is established for data transmission, which is designed in particular as a mobile telephone connection.
- DE 43 10 216 AI discloses a method for entering information into a digital passenger information system, in which a data exchange is carried out by means of a read / write memory, which is introduced into a processing station and written there with the desired information, and which is subsequently entered into the digital passenger information system is brought in and read out. The data is therefore transferred via data storage media.
- a driving seat has a terminal of the information system, with at least one screen of a terminal being integrated in the backrest of the driving seat, which faces in the direction of the seat the driving seat to which this terminal is assigned.
- a central computer is provided which is connected to a radio modem for data exchange with an external stationary computer. With the help of the radio modem, not only current data can be transmitted to the central computer, but there is also the possibility that a passenger communicates with the outside world via his terminal and, for example, electronically via the Internet Post can do.
- the radio modems are therefore designed to set up a telephone connection.
- a radio receiving device is provided for receiving radio and television programs, so that radio and television programs can also be displayed on the terminal of the information system.
- DE 44 14 626 AI discloses a traffic information system with at least one central electronic computing unit. This is electrically or radio-technically coupled for data transmission with target and actual value sources, it being possible to query with the aid of query units which are located at the place of residence / activity of the user of the means of transport.
- the interrogation units are connected via telephone sets which are coupled to the central electronic computing unit via the telephone network or a mobile radio network.
- a robust antenna system for satellite reception is known from WO 99/34475, which enables direct satellite reception for land and sea-based vehicles under adverse conditions and environments by tracking the orientation of the satellite antenna.
- the selected satellite is identified on the basis of a pulse sequence of radio signals and the antenna is aligned with the selected satellite using two axial motors and an electronic control.
- the antenna is aligned with the selected satellite using two axial motors and an electronic control.
- the present invention is based on the technical problem of the method for presenting information in this regard improve that information can be presented in high quality with simultaneous updateability and that the update is uniformly possible for a large geographical area.
- the technical problem described above is solved according to the invention in that a satellite antenna is used as the receiving device and in that the additional information is transmitted via satellite.
- the method according to the invention is based on the knowledge that only part of the information presented has to be updated regularly, while the vast majority of the information is sufficiently up-to-date to be stored on the computer as master information.
- the master information can therefore be stored in larger amounts of data, so that at least the vast majority of the information presented is of high demonstration quality.
- Only the information to be updated must be transmitted to the computer as additional information with the aid of the transmitting device and the receiving device. This additional information is then used to change, in particular to update, the information presented.
- a satellite antenna is used as the receiving device and the additional information is transmitted via satellite. This enables a largely location-independent reception of the additional information, since known dimensions enable satellite reception to be carried out nationwide. A location-independent update of the presented information is thus considerably simplified.
- the additional information is preferably transmitted by means of digital sound subcarrier frequencies of analog radio signals.
- This provides a powerful data transmission method via satellite. Since it is a transparent data stream, it is open to all data formats, such as text, graphics, image, audio or video files.
- the data can be encrypted so that only selected recipients can record and process the additional information.
- the files to be transferred are directed from one sender to several receivers according to the point-to-multipoint principle.
- the required receiving computer card then has an individual address and can be addressed via satellite.
- the data transmission method via satellite is therefore suitable for transmitting the additional information to a closed user group, for example a plurality of different locations or a plurality of vehicles.
- the advantage of transmitting the additional information with the aid of satellites is that the radio waves emitted are transmitted nationwide and nationwide. Thus, no special network of transmitters and transmission frequencies or a mobile telephone connection for data transmission is required to carry out the method. In addition, only very small parts of the total information flow of the radio waves for the transmission of the additional formations are reserved. The transmission of the additional information is therefore inexpensive.
- the method described above is preferably applicable to moving vehicles, rail vehicles and buses in public transport being particularly suitable for use of the method.
- the method can also be used to present the information at fixed locations, such as at stops, train stations or airports.
- short films, video art, computer animation, cartoons and all forms of advertising information serve as master information.
- additional information for example, stop information, transfer and connection information, in particular also for networking with other public or private means of transport, weather news, news headlines, stock exchange information, event information, citizen information or tourist information can be transmitted.
- the additional information is then combined with the master information such that the information displayed on demonstration devices is changed, in particular updated, as a function of the additional information.
- the master information is preferably transferred to the computer using a data line via telephone, a local network or by means of data medium exchange.
- a data line via telephone, a local network or by means of data medium exchange.
- the master data is stored on the computer during the stay at predetermined locations, such as, for example, operating ports be transmitted in the vehicle.
- the master data is stored on the computer, for example by means of a telephone connection, while the additional information - for example while driving - is transmitted via the transmitting and receiving devices.
- the contents of the information presented are preferably changed with the aid of the additional information, so that, for example, the data of a weather report is updated with the aid of the additional information, which is presented at regular intervals during a predetermined time course of the information presented.
- the additional information has at least partially executable instructions that can be interpreted using the computer.
- Control commands are thus transmitted to the computer in order to change not only the content but also the chronological order of the information presented. This influences the chronological sequence of the information presented, that is to say the program itself, in order, for example, to insert a current news headline.
- the information presented is thus kept up to date without the information of the entire program having to be transmitted.
- the executable instructions transmitted as additional information are used to combine object-oriented information in the computer in accordance with the instructions and to prepare them for the demonstration.
- objects stored in the computer that serve as symbols for the Weather report can be used, merged according to the transmitted instructions from the computer and prepared for a demonstration.
- a high quality of the information displayed, for example a film-like image sequence of a weather report, is thus produced with a minimum of additional information.
- the object-oriented information is preferably stored on the computer as master information, but this can also be transmitted as additional information.
- the examples given so far relate to the fact that the master and additional information is processed into visual information.
- the method according to the invention can also be used for acoustic information or for a combination of visual and acoustic information.
- the computer is connected to a geographic positioning system, in particular a global positioning system (GPS), so that the computer evaluates the additional information as a function of the geographic position of the vehicle. For example, therefore of transit or Anschlußinformati 'ones are selected out in dependence on the next stop of the vehicle from the transmitted additional information.
- GPS global positioning system
- an already existing passenger information system can be used in a further preferred manner.
- Another object of the invention which also solves the technical problem of the invention and in the following is explained in more detail, is a device for demonstrating information, in particular with a prescribed

- a so-called offline production takes place in a broadcast studio 2, in which all the basics for a program of a predetermined time unit, for example a daily program in the form of individual films, are created.
- the pre-planned information for example film contributions, which contain information from business and trade or advertising information, is forwarded from the broadcasting studio 2 to a broadcaster 4 via an intranet 3.
- the transmitter 4 transmits the information via a satellite 5 and a receiver 6 to at least one depot 7 of the operator of the rail vehicles 1.
- the information received from the broadcasting studio 2 is transmitted as master information to the computer (not shown) arranged in the rail vehicle 1. Consequently the master information is updated on the computer while the rail vehicle 1 is in the depot 7.
- Data can be transferred to the computer using a data line, a local network or by exchanging data carriers.
- the master information is presented in a preprogrammed sequence on screen devices (not shown) which serve as demonstration devices.
- a second broadcast studio 8 which in the exemplary embodiment is separate from the first broadcast studio 2 and also receives the master information from the first broadcast studio 2 via the intranet, current information is collected and compiled in the form of graphic objects, texts and scripts. For this purpose, general information is collected in the form of news from politics and trade as well as weather forecasts.
- current messages from the depot 7 or from all the depots 7 of the operator are transmitted via an intranet 9. These messages relate, for example, to schedule information, which may in particular include delay messages from the operator's rail vehicles 1.
- the summarized current information is transmitted from the broadcasting studio 8 to a transmitter 11 via an intranet 10. From this, the current information is transmitted as additional information to the rail vehicles 1 via a satellite 12, in particular when they are on the move, that is to say outside the depots 7.
- the additional data are transmitted via digital audio subcarrier frequencies of analog radio signals.
- the additional information is first generated on a production computer in depot 7 of the online production as graphics, images, texts and / or scripts. These are converted in a ⁇ ⁇ for the satellite broadcast suitable shape and encoded, so that the additional information files are transferred to the transmitter. 11 From this the digital data stream is transmitted to the satellite 12 and from there to the trains 1.
- the satellite receiver (not shown) installed in the rail vehicle 1 receives the transmitted data of the radio waves emitted by the satellite 12.
- the computer connected to the receiver caches the data stream and analyzes it. The data is then decoded into the original graphics, images, texts and scripts as additional information.
- the receiver designed as a satellite antenna As a self-tracking satellite receiver, as is known, for example, from WO 99/34475 described above. This ensures that the satellite antenna remains largely aligned with the position of the corresponding satellite in order to enable a largely continuous reception of the additional information.
- the additional information is graphics, images or text, it is inserted into the running program by the computer at positions that may be specified. This can be, for example, current news or passenger information.
- the additional information which has been transmitted in the form of data via satellite, can also contain scripts in a predetermined script language which can be interpreted by the computer, in particular also interpreted in terms of runtime.
- the computer thus receives control commands via satellite radio in order to actively influence the course of the program of the information presented.
- such influencing can consist, for example, of removing or inserting a graphic, film or text object from the program, so that the chronological order of the information presented is changed.
- the executable instructions can be interpreted by the computer in such a way that graphic, film and / or text objects stored as master information are combined with one another, as described below using the example of an updated weather report.
- a limited number of symbols such as a sun, clouds or temperature information as well as maps for the geographical arrangement of the symbols are required for the visual representation of a weather report. If these different symbols are stored as objects in the master information in the computer, you can with the executable instructions, which have been transmitted as additional information, the various objects are put together in such a way that the film-like updated weather report with fixed and / or moving symbols for a specific region is shown on the screens in the rail vehicle 1.
- the process described last can also be referred to as object-oriented control of the presentation of information in a moving vehicle.
