Description

C.T.IF.NT-ORTF,NTF,F> FSTTMATTON SYSTEM AND METHOD TTSTNO THF.
TNTBRNFT
The present invention relates to a client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet, and more particularly to a client-oriented estimation system and method, in which when clients and companies connected with a Web server of a service provider through computer terminals to the Internet by predetermined Internet connection means input details of estimation, which they want to obtain, in a form displayed on an information input window of each Web browser, the inputted estimation information is registered in a client database and a company database of the service provider. In the system and method, the Web server combines and extracts the data registered in the databases, so as to produce a best estimate and simultaneously enable a proper company for the estimation requirement by the client to be selected and to make a contract. Therefore, in the system and method, a bidding operation can be efficiently progressed by a transparent procedure of the estimation system and method, and the client can select the company most appropriate to fulfill the client's condition.
Background Art
The Internet, which originated from the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) and was made with the intention of effectively sharing information for military use by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the Ministry of Defense of USA, has made continuous progress and is now utilized in various ways, for example, as communication means for collecting and transferring news, mail, and other information, all over the world. As the Internet having been developed in the above-described way gradually expands beyond the initial specific object, the number of people using the Internet has explosively increased in recent years, and business activity through the Internet is now rapidly spreading. Consequently, various types of Internet businesses have been proposed.
Largely, the Internet businesses can be classified into three groups: an information providing service in which a service provider (IP) provides information to clients, who connect with a homepage of the service provider, with or without collecting a predetermined fee for the information providing service; a network game service that enables a plurality of users to simultaneously play online games through the network; and an electronic commerce (EC) by which online transactions of goods or services between a company and an individual or between companies can be made.
Among Internet businesses, the electronic commerce by means of computer terminals is most prevalent in recent times, and various items are being continuously developed.
As examples of electronic commerce models, there are a shopping mall type in which material goods or services are sold through a virtual store on-line, an auction or a reverse auction type in which a plurality of users participate through a network in real time and determine the price at firsthand, a cooperative purchase type in which a plurality of purchasers cooperate with each other so as to force a reduction of the price of the goods, and an intermediating type by which a plurality of producers and a plurality of consumers are directly connected with each other.
In the conventional electronic commerce as described above, the final price of the goods to be sold is inputted in a database of the service provider and transferred to the user, or a price determined directly by the user is stored in a database and open to the plural users. Even though in the case of conventional consumer products, the intermediate distribution steps are eliminated and the prices of the products are set to be low, the quality of the goods is not largely influenced.
However, in the case of industries, in which contract conditions between companies are difficult to be open to the public, such as a bid, various consulting industries, a house construction industry, public works, or service industries, since the contract between the client and the company is made before a product of the contract is manufactured, the estimation is set to be low due to fierce competition between the companies, so as to make the products faithless. Due to this reason, it is difficult to make a contract through an auction or a reverse auction, and there is a limit in determining an objective price since the price is usually determined through a negotiation between a consumer and a supplier, who are the interested parties, in a general estimation evaluation system.
Further, the companies employ various estimation systems according to various conditions such as a bid condition according to the quantity of goods requested from the client, changes in labor cost due to seasonal factors, and regional characteristics, and it is impossible to realize a public competition between the companies. Further, the estimation details are not formalized and opened to the public.
On the contrary, for a client who wants to present an estimate with better conditions according to his or her requirements, it is difficult for the client to readily cope with the estimation system and the price, which change irregularly.
Also, in fact, it is difficult to connect one by one with the respective databases of the companies to collect the estimation information.
In the conventional method as described above, the client, who wants to know the estimation information, has to individually contact a worker representing each company through a communication means such as a direct call and a facsimile, so as to collect the dispersed information, or has to obtained through intermediating companies capable of linking the client to the company having the estimate. However, it takes too much time and labor in making a contract between the client and the company having an estimate. Moreover, in a large-scale construction works or in the process of a subcontract between a client and a contracted company, usually the estimation details are not opened to the public and a large amount of a rebate is traded, thereby causing defective construction.
Disclosure of the Invention Therefore, the present invention has been made in order to overcome the above-mentioned problems of the prior arts, and it is an object of the present invention to provide client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet, by which estimation and a contract can be made in public through a fair competition between companies, and in which each client can contact with a plurality of companies having proper price estimates in a short time, so as to select a company capable of receiving orders with the best price estimate.
In the client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet, a client, who wants to receive an estimate, connects with a Web server of a service provider through a computer terminal capable of being connected to the Internet and inputs details of estimation, which the client wants to obtain, in a form displayed on an information input window of the Web browser, while a company registers general company information in a company database. Then, the Web server combines and extracts the client information, the company information, and the information inputted by the operator, which are respectively registered in the databases, so as to produce a best estimation and simultaneously enable a proper company for the estimation requirement by the client to be selected and to make a contract. Therefore, in the system and method, the client, who wants to receive an estimate, can obtain anticipated estimation details and objective estimations in advance and register them in a database operated by the service provider.
Moreover, the client can connect with a plurality of companies in real time.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Reference wilf now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention.
First, referring to FIG. 1, which shows a schematic construction of a client-oriented estimation system using the Internet according to the present invention. In the estimation system, a client 30, who wants to receive an estimate for a product he wants to purchase, and a company 40 having an order-receiving capability can respectively connect with a Web browser running on each of their computer terminals 31 and 41 by predetermined Internet connection means. When they respectively register estimation request information and company information on databases 22a to 22c connected to a Web server 21, the Web server 21 classifies and combines again the information registered on the databases 22a to 22c and then transmits the classified and combined information to a homepage of a service provider 20 displayed on the computer terminals 31 and 41 of the client 30 and the company 40.
In this case, the Web server 21 is connected with a user management database 22a, which includes basic data inputted by the service provider 20 under the control of the service provider 20, a client database 22b, which includes estimation request information from the client 30, and a company database 22c, which includes basic information of the company 40 having an order-receiving capability. Therefore, the Web server 21 reads, combines, and classifies information with respect to estimations requested by the client 30 and the company 40, and stores the information in databases simultaneously while transmitting the information to the computer terminals 31 and 41 of the client 30 and the company
40 through separate Web pages.
FIG. 2 is a block diagram of a client-oriented estimation system using the Internet according to the present invention. As shown in the drawing, the client- oriented estimation system using the Internet according to the present invention includes a user management database 22a including basic data 22a' for estimated object and operator input data 22a" for the price change due to market and seasonal conditions respectively inputted by the service provider 20, a client database 22b for storing estimation request information data 22b' for objects requested to be estimated by the client 30, and a company database 22c for storing a basic information data 22c' of a company.
To the user management database 22a are inputted the basic data 22a' including basic estimation data for objects of various fields and the operator input data 22a" for changing or added data in respective fields at regular intervals through the Web server 21 operated by the service provider 20 or by a service company entrusted by the service provider.
When the basic data 22a' are inputted in the user management database 22a, the service provider 20 publicly selects a plurality of service companies having relatively good objectivities according to reference items, which are basic details in the estimations of respective fields. Then, the service provider 20 compares and examines the price estimates for basic goods proposed by the companies, selects companies excepting those who proposed the highest and the lowest prices, and then determines an average value of prices proposed by the selected companies as an objective unit price for each reference item, which is stored in a database.
In this case, the basic data 22a' are classified in detail according to the fields of industries such as a construction industry, a service industry, a manufacturing industry, and a fabrication and sales industry, and then inputted and stored according to the fields of industries.
Further, the service provider 20 periodically updates the operator input data 22a' ' with detailed quarterly or monthly price change data, which include an exchange rate variation for import goods, a wholesale price increase, general management expenses, and a workers' pay raise, and with additional estimation data, by which additional estimation details inputted by the client 30 can be dealt with.
In the meantime, the client database 22b and the company database 22c respectively have specific identification code information, so that the identification codes of the client 30 and the company 40 can be provided when the client 30 and the company 40 connect with the Web server 21. Estimation information, which is formed when the client 30 inputs the estimation request information data 22b' corresponding to each datum of the user management database 22a, is stored in the client database 22b, while the basic information data 22c' such as reliabilities of companies, sales scales, and numbers of workers, which are requested when companies participate in a bid, are stored in the company database 22c.
According to a data combination algorithm in the client-oriented estimation system using the Internet according to the present invention as described above, when the client 30, who has connected with the Web server 21 of the service provider 20, inputs estimation request information for a reference item of an object, for which the client 30 wants to receive an estimate, the Web server 21 of the service provider 20 reads and combines the estimation request information data 22b' of the client database 22b, and the basic data 22a' and the operator input data 22a' ' of the user management database 22a and then produces an objective estimation according to the estimation request information of the client 30.
In this case, a detailed estimation of an estimated object transmitted from the Web server 21 is outputted on the Web browser of the client 30 (see reference numeral 100) together with average prices for respective items. In the case of an interior decoration industry and a construction industry, in which the object to be estimated is visible, according to the selection of the client 30, a three dimensional image may be transmitted and be displayed through a separate Web browser or an applied program, so that a practical shape of a product can be exhibited before a sales contract for the product is made. Again, the estimation information is received through the Web server 21 of the service provider 20 and stored in the client database 22b.
In the meantime, after the estimation is produced from combined data of the user management database 22a and the client database 22b (see reference numeral 100) and the confirmatory transmission of the produced estimation is carried out through the selective reception of a three dimensional image by the client 30 as described above, the client 30 searches information of the company database 22c, so as to select a company, with which the client 30 wants to make a contract. Then, the Web server 21 sends a contract form contained in a separate Web page respectively to the computer terminals 31 and 41 of the client 30 and the company 40, so as to allow the contract to be made according to a predetermined procedure (see reference numeral 120).
FIGs. 3 to 5 are flow charts of a client-oriented estimation method using the Internet according to the present invention by the client-oriented estimation system as described above. Referring to FIG. 3, which is a flow chart for showing a connection procedure in the client-oriented estimation method of the invention, when connection requests are received in the Web server 21, with which a user can connect through an Internet network 10, from the client 30 and the company 40 through the computer terminals 31 and 41 having certain Internet-connecting means, main Web pages including identification code information input blanks are transmitted (step A101). Then, the identification code information transmitted to the Web server 21 by means of the identification code information input blanks is received (step A 102), and affiliation information of the client 30 and the company 40 registered in the client database 22b and the company database 22c are searched (step Al 03).
In this case, the Web server 21 allows a user verification simultaneously with a connection verification of the Web server 21 by means of the identification code information of the client 30 and the company 40 (step A 104). When the user identification by the database information is not executed, a separate user information input Web page is transmitted, so as to induce a user to register as a member capable of receiving the user verification. After allowing the user verification by means of the information of the client database 22b and the company database 22c as described above, the Web server 21 requests a transmission of the basic information of a company in question, such as the number of workers, the sales volume, and the reliability of the company, to the company database 22c (step A 105). Also, on the basis of the transmitted basic information, basic estimation data according to respective fields of industries inputted by the service provider 20 and stored in the user management database 22a are transmitted to the client 30, who requested the estimation according to the respective fields of industries (step A 106).
The identification code information of the client 30 and the company 40 respectively include an identification code and a password, together with individual's private information including the individual's name, address, and contact means in the case of an individual, and enterpriser's information such as enterpriser's number and corporation number in the case of a corporation, which are transmitted and stored in each database when the Web server 21 transmits the Web pages in response to a request from Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) through the Web browsers of the client 30 and the company 40. Further, the basic data 22a' are made and inputted by the service provider 20 from estimation data in each field, which may be provided through the Web server 21, based on the estimation information and the basic company information provided by the company, and are combined with the operator input data 22a" by an estimation request from the client 30, so that a resultant estimation is transmitted.
FIG. 4 is a flow chart of a client estimation contract procedure in the client-oriented estimation method using the Internet according to the present invention. As shown, when estimation request information corresponding to each field of the client 30 is received from the Web server 21 connected to the Internet network 10 (step B201), the received estimation request information together with the client's identification code information is stored in the client database 22b (step B202), and the basic data 22a' extracted from the user management database 22a are compared with the information extracted from the operator input data 22a" (step B203), so that a price estimate is transmitted to the Web browser of the client
30 (step B204).
In this case, the price estimate of a corresponding field transmitted to the computer terminal 31 of the client 30 through the Web server 21 is displayed in a predetermined form through the client's Web browser. In step B204, in the case where the estimation is requested in fields capable of supporting visible expressions such as the construction industry and the interior decoration industry, the Web server 21 selectively transmits the three dimensional image through a separate Web browser or an applied program.
Meanwhile, on the Web browser by the estimate by the Web server 21, by means of the agreement indication means of the client 30, the Web server 21 transmits a contract form according to a price estimate of a corresponding field (step B205) to display it on the Web browser.
As the agreement indication means of the client may be employed a confirmation icon selected and operated by input means such as a keyboard or a mouse.
Moreover, the operator input data 22a" for evaluating the price estimate, which are periodically inputted and stored, include an exchange rate variation for import goods, a wholesale price increase, a worker's pay, and locally varying transportation expenses.
As described above, in the client-oriented estimation system using the Internet according to the present invention, which is operated according to estimation requests of respective fields of the client 30, the information of the company 40 transmitted and stored in the company database 22c according to the request for the basic information by the Web server 21 is open to the public so that the client 30 can search the information, and the client can compare and select a company to make a contract by means of the public company information.
Furthermore, a step of mutual verification between the client and the company or an approval of a contract form in each field transmitted through the Web browser of the client 30 may be carried out through an input of a verification key in a verification form generated through the Web server 21, an input of a signature image in a blank of a separately provided form, or a selection of a confirmation icon through an input means.
Finally, FIG. 5 shows a flow chart of a contract procedure with a company in the client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet according to the present invention. As shown, in the contract procedure, when the basic information of a company inputted and transmitted according to a request of the
Web server 21 in step A 105 described above is received through the Web server 21 (step C301), the information is collectively registered and stored in the company database 22c (step C302). Also, when the company 40 having connected with the Web server 21 through a verification of the identification code information requests an estimation list in each field based on the estimation request information from multiple clients 30, an estimation list of the client 30 of a corresponding field stored and open to the public in the client database 22b is searched and transmitted (step C303).
When an order-receiving intention according to estimations of respective clients transmitted through the Internet from the computer terminal 41 of the company 40 is received (step C304), the Web server 21 transmits the order- receiving intention to the computer terminal 31 of the corresponding client in real time or by means of an electronic mail. Then, after the Web server 21 receives a negotiation message from the client 30 for the transmitted order-receiving intention, the negotiation message of the client 30 is transmitted to the computer terminal 41 of the corresponding company 40 by the same informing means (step
C305).
In this case, when the Web server 21 confirms an agreement of the company 40 to receive the order with respect to the negotiating message transmitted to the computer terminal 41, the Web server 21 transmits a contract form including identification code information of the company 40 extracted from the company database 22c to the Web browsers displayed on the computer terminals 31 and 41 of the client 30 and the company 40 (step C306).
In the client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet, whose progress follows the data flow in the estimation system as described above, requests from the purchasers, namely the clients according to respective fields, are sufficiently reflected with respect to the objects, for which the companies carry out estimations, so that proper prices for goods to be manufactured or estimation tasks to be served can be determined through a fair contract procedure based on operator input data and basic data selected fairly and publicly by the service provider in front of multiple clients and multiple companies. Therefore, the present invention may be employed in all industrial fields. Especially, the system and the method of the invention can be mainly utilized in such industries as a construction industry, in which deals are made between construction companies and the owners of buildings, a computer assemblage industry, various consulting industries, and service industries, as well as in such fields as government contracted public works, plant constructions, and assemblage industries in various manufacture industries.
Hereinafter, an example of the client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet according to the present invention applied to relations between an owner of a building and construction companies will be described. The owner of a building, the client as described above, connects with a homepage of a service provider of the invention by means of a terminal having an Internet connecting means, and the owner inputs estimation request information data, including purpose of use, construction, area, and stories and height of the building, together with finishing materials such as exterior finish, interior finish, and floor finish, in an information input form displayed on a Web browser of the terminal.
Simultaneously while the owner of the building inputs the estimation request information data, the service provider reads and combines basic data containing objective prices according to kinds of construction materials stored in advance in the user management database with operator input data including monthly or quarterly changes according to exchange rate variations, price increases, general management expenses, and labor costs, so as to provide the owner of the building with a detailed estimate including an entire price, itemized prices, a price per unit area of the building, which are transmitted to the client's computer terminal and displayed through the Web browser. In this case, as soon as the owner of the building receives the public estimation results and price estimates, the owner can select details of the building, such as exterior and interior shapes of the building, according to the owner's tastes, by means of a separate Web browser or a separate applied program, through simulations of three dimensional images of the building displayed on the Web browser of the terminal. In this case, the owner can experience various simulations for the building, before agreeing to an estimate.
The three dimensional images outputted on the Web browser of the client through the estimation system using the Internet according to the invention may include plan, sectional, and perspective views. Especially, in the case of the perspective view, provided can be a tracing function, by which the client can open the door of the imaginary building and see the interior of the building at firsthand on the Web browser through an operation of a simulation program.
Moreover, after a contract is made between a client and a company, who are the interested parties, the object of the contract can be manufactured according to the request by the client under the supervision of a service provider, namely a system operator, or a third party entrusted by the system operator, while the object is completed.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, in the client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet according to the present invention, clients, who want to receive an estimate, and companies, respectively having a capability of receiving an order according to the estimate, can connect with a Web server of a service provider by predetermined Internet connection means, and can see estimation results of corresponding fields and selective three dimensional images after estimation through computer terminals. Moreover, the system and method of the invention overcome regional restrictions due to a trade in a direct contact mode through the homepage of the service provider. Therefore, in the system and method of the invention, a need for an intermediary can be removed, and the companies can develop business targets more easily. Furthermore, each client and each company, who are the contracting parties, can make a contract based on an objective price according to the database information registered by the service provider, who is the third party.
Moreover, the client-oriented estimation system and method using the Internet according to the present invention can be utilized mainly between construction companies and owners of buildings who want to own a newly constructed building, as well as in various fields such as a computer assemblage industry, various consulting industries, service industries, and government contracted public works, which are progressed after a contract is made.
